Sorry if it's been discussed in another thread but what are the pro's of replacing my original Intrada pressing with the current available version?.

I know it says remastered but if anybody has both & can throw any on the differences, sonically that is,I'd be grateful

Cheers

The re-mastered edition (Intrada #2) is night and day better than the original version (Intrada #1). It sounds stunning. Don't hesitate to pick the new one up!

As I recall, the main concern with the original Intrada release was that the music was extremely quiet when compare to most CDs - the re-release rectified this "error". Whether the remastering also resulted in a "better" sound qualityoverall, I couldn't say, since I've never actually heard the original Intrada CD.

Thanks for the info. I'm only thinking of upgrading in line with the new First Blood cd. My original cd has always sounded a little 'quiet' to my ears. If they have rectified this in re-mastering it then I am happy to re-buy!

I have to agree Dave, the second pressing Intrada did of RAMBO III is well worth the upgrade because of the sound quality. It sounds fantasic and easy to tell when compared. I have also really enjoyed the new complete FIRTST BLOOD. I have always loved the score, but never played it much because of the sound quality of the first Intrada and the Varesse. The new FIRST BLOOD release was worth the price for sound quality alone too.

Thanks for this. I was reluctant to play both for the same reason. First Blood is coming as an Xmas present from inlaws, I feel a Rambo III upgrade coming on though!

Yep. I have both versions and I can tell you the latest version is superior in sound quality.
The original one was very quiet and hissy in comparison.

As part III gets the most play time from me, I'll have to upgrade to the remastered version sometime. But no priority in this avalanche of unreleased and expanded scores.

I thought the first release sounded pretty darned good. I mean, it was taken from a brand new digital recording.

I didn't partake of the reissue because although I kinda like it, I'm not a rampant fan of the Rambo scores other than First Blood. I figured I wanted to spread my money around in different ways than to replace something I'd already got. I'd have felt different if it was a favourite, I guess.

Still, interest is aroused.

So, please expand ... what did they do deficiently the first time round?

Cheers

This is news to me, I had no idea it at been remastered.
I guess I have the original - the one with just Rambo on the cover sans helicopter and horses.

When was the remastered version released?

That's the version I have as well and have always been satisfied with it. But now I'm curious about the more recent version.

I'm with The Mutant on this - I recently got the new version and it's a definite improvement.

The contents are exactly the same as the previous Intrada release from 1989 except that the music has been remastered to whatever the standards are from 2005.

The original release does sound really good but this sounds much better, in my opinion. Worth the upgrade and worth giving your old album to somebody who has never heard the music.

Hi guys, I just ordered the 2005 version, can't wait to get it!

I received it last month as a Christmas gift, and both the score and sound quality are extraordinary. I especially dig Goldsmith's use of percussion in RIII. You're in for a treat, Ryan!

I was also thinking about getting the expanded myself. Glad you brought up the question. I will be getting a copy. Many thanks.
