I loved this album, esp. side one, back in the 70s/80s. (What is it about the first side of Vangelis albums? China is like that. with a great first side and a meh second side, and, really, so is Chariots of Fire. And I think a couple of others). Anyway, I still have the LP in my pile but haven't listened to it in ages. Today I was farting around on Amazon and found the album as a download for $7.99. But it's only 2 track, side one and side two from the old lp. And you can buy each track for 99 cents each. So I just downloaded the whole album for two bucks. SOrt of a strange hole in the system but, hey, works for me! Here's a linkk to the mp3 album: http://amzn.to/ftjnYy And Amazon mp3 at least doesn't (usually) come loaded with DRM.

Okay, been actually listening to it and reminded how much wonderful stuff is on here. Side one has the sublime section that served as the theme from Carl Sagan's Cosmos and then the wistful song So Long Ago So Clear. And now that I'm hearing side two, I'm reminded of two wonderful sections - a whirling pizzicato piece and the sort of hummed melody deal. How's that for some nice description? Oh well. It's a great album. It's fun rediscovering this old gem.

I have all of Vangelis' albums on CD, and this is a favorite of mine. Believe it or not, I once heard a section of it used in a porn from the early '80s. I doubt anybody asked Vangelis for permission.
