Hmmm....I like the fact that they're releasing this separately from the set, but since the tracks are so short, I'd rather have them combine some of the tracks into a couple of suites (for easier flow), and then add all the important songs. That would have been my dream KK soundtrack, but I realize there are probably lots of rights issues involved with the latter.
I find this to be a major odd ball release. Considering they released it plus the other 3 scores as a box set a few years ago. I did buy the box set when that was released at the time.
It doesn't bug me but I just find it odd they'd do this as a separate release.
Well part of me is bummed that this wastes a valuable slot in the CD Club's output. But another (bigger) part of me is delighted that I only want 3 of the titles this time.

And what amazing titles those others are!
Precisely! The less of a strain on my wallet, the better. Especially with the Intrada titles late tomorrow, and the La-La Land batch of 4 titles next Tuesday... gonna be an expensive November!
C'mon... it's not as if another score will never get released just because they reissued THE KARATE KID.
Besides, it's a good thing for people who want this score but weren't willing to (or couldn't afford to) buy the box set. Or those who can't afford to pick it up on the secondary market.
PS... for the record I for one have no problem with this re-issue.
I didn't miss out on the original boxed-set edition, but then sadly had to part with it (short version of the story: I was broke!).. gutted.
So yes, whilst this isn't as true replacement it was the score from the original movie that I liked the best, so very pleased (and surprised) to see this release
I too would have _ideally_ liked to have see a score + songs release (even a simple 2CD affair with score on Disc 1, songs on Disc 2 would have been great..) - but as has already been noted I'm guessing that kind of release would have been a licensing minefield / nightmare. Perhaps.
