I was listening to this score again last week. Absolutely gorgeous. I think SOMEWHERE IN MY MEMORY hopefully will become a legendary Christmas song. Bricusse's lyrics and Williams theme is such a stunning marriage. I recently got a little goodie in the mail, and wanted to show my film score friends it. Not sure what I'll do with it, I may frame it and then hang it out in the living room during the holidays.

It would be nice if one of our beloved labels were able to give this score a complete treatment to go with Varèse complete release for Home Alone 2: Lost In New York. Wow! Okay, I officially want to borrow your crystal ball.

Listening to the LLL album right now. What an unbelievably gorgeous score, there must be half a dozen unforgettable themes, and that Williams sound is just breathtaking. I know he has moved away from this style of his own accord, but I SO miss the Williams of c. 1975-1992, who wrote the most sweeping themes around, every one of which is lodged in my head for life. Only AI really compares since then in that respect. Hard to believe this score is TWENTY years old, seeing the film at such an impressionable age made this sound the unalterable sound of Christmas for me. I can't believe this was a score that I, and I assume everyone else, just took for granted at the time, just another John Williams score for a fun little family film. What I wouldn't give for a score like this today.

It would be nice if one of our beloved labels were able to give this score a complete treatment to go with Varèse complete release for Home Alone 2: Lost In New York. what's missing ? - besides the songs And is it important stuff ? Ah, check the date on Vosk's original post. He was referring to the old CBS album, and wrote that post about a week before the LLL complete album was announced. Now I just want him to ask when Mancini's CHARADE score is being released, if his luck still holds

Wow that is interesting that I wrote that a tad before the release. Rest assured, this was NOT a hint, I did NOT know about this, just a crazy coincidence!

Jeeeesus this is a fantastic score! I bought the La La Land disc back in the Spring on a whim when I ordered my X Files box set and just got around to giving it a listen. I think I'm on listen #12 right now. As many times as I saw the movie and as big of a Williams fan as I am, for some reason this score was just never on my radar. I knew it worked like gangbusters in the film but I never sought it out for a separate listening experience. Honestly, I cannot imagine a more perfect musical representation of the holiday. "Star Of Bethlehem" is thrilling and the whole score is sublime and richly orchestrated. Woodwinds! And let me just say this: listening to this score reinforces my belief that John Williams is a wonderous freak of nature. His mastery of counterpoint, complex harmonies, orchestration, and tonal melodicism is just unparalleled. So many notes, but they all have a purpose. As a composer, nothing mentally wears me out more than listening to a smashing good John Williams score. But on that same token, nothing inspires me more. I can't really remember the score for #2, but I'm sure I'll pick it up soon. Oh, and I have HOOK on order as well

I love this score. One of my favorite parts of it is the Dies Iraes/Carol of the Bells connection, which I was not aware of until reading the liner notes from this edition. I recently read through it and I found it very informative! It makes a great companion to Varese' release of Home Alone 2 a couple of years ago. Glad I have this.
