Feel free to disagree...

...I did not exactly seek out to watch Child's Play 2 - I have a soft spot for the original but had never seen any of the sequels and - for the sake of completeness more than anything - thought I had better watch them sooner or later....just the once.....with wine and chocolate......after all, there's always the "Stop" button....

...so, halloween descends upong us, I was there with the vino flowing and watching Child's Play 2 and found myself....yep...pretty much hating every second...except the score. Was surprised, for an ostensibly low budget cheesy horror comedy flick, how well developed the score was, how well matched to the on-screen action (particularly in the final 10 minutes), how entertaining it is, and so on......a far better score than this movie deserved.

I will admit to not exactly being a HUGE Graeme Revell fan, though he is reasonably represented in my CD collection, but was quite disappointed to find there has been no release for this yet....here's hoping maybe for one in the future....?

Of course, it might just be me....

I love Graeme Revell's Child's Play 2. One of my favorite horror scores of all time. I'd love see this score get a release.

I'd say this score is a MAJOR gem, myself...easilly the best thing Revell has ever written. I'd snap up a CD of this in a heartbeat.

The main titles alone are worth purchasing this. I'm surprised it never got a release considering the other Revell scores on CD. I hope some label is working on this.

Here is the gem in sub par quality:

The score for this installment was absolutely a gem. The late Shirley Walker conducted it. The score has it all...

Graeme Revell is not a favorite composer of mine, but I would definitely buy Child's Play 2. It's an effective little horror score.

However he is one of my favorite composers and yes I would love a CD release.

Just wanted to bump this one, the movie got a barebones blu-ray release over in Germany (sadly only 2.0 stereo mix), but seeing it reminded me of how much I like the score from this one, especially the main title with the new music box theme etc. I do still prefer the Renzetti score of the original over this (a bit more serious horror score), but the sequel's big approach to the music makes it a great candidate for a release, if only to highlight Shirley Walker's great orchestrations smile

Just like with the original Dawn Of the Dead score. Im surprised Revell's Child's Play 2 score hasn't been released yet either by LLLR, which released the score to the original and fifth film, or BuySoundtrax assuming the masters are available and such. Oh well maybe someday.

Although I would not include Graeme Revell as one of my favourite composers some of his scores are really great and some of his best scores remain unreleased!

My favourite scores from him are:

"Child's Play 2" - UNRELEASED - That Main Title is by far the best piece in the score, but the rest of the score is also very good!

"The Hand That Rocks The Cradle" is also a fantastic score and a great album to listen to. Not much original, it reminds some of Jerry Goldsmith similar thriller scores, but a great theme and some of his best action music.

"Dead Calm" (UNRELEASED - and reportedly lost) is also another great score! It's kind of sound design but very original and works wonderfully in the movie.

"Might Morphing Power Rangers" is another great orchestral score with very good themes and action pieces.

Other scores I like from him include:

Pitch Black (UNRELEASED) very effective

Psycho IV (UNRELEASED) - although I prefer much more the scores to part II and III his arrangements of the original Psycho material are very good and his original material is also good (even if the two does not merge very well)

The Crow - great theme, but rest of the score is not as good.

The Saint - great love theme, but not so great score.

Interesting list danbeck. My biggest complaint about Revell is that he usually writes one great main theme and the rest of the album falls short. Daredevil comes to mind. I did like his "No Escape" score. I would love to get Pitch Black as well, really impressed with that when I saw it in the theater. Psycho IV I'd welcome as well. His rejected score for "13th warrior" would make a good combo with Goldsmith's for a deluxe edition.

Need to check out some of the ones from your list.

Bumping this up again. I watched this movie over the weekend on bluray to get into the Halloween mood (4 weeks earlyI know, but I love Halloween!).

I really enjoyed the score - the main titles have a fantastic, enjoyable bold theme and there's some good scoring throughout with the various scenes with Chucky. Then the end titles bring all the themes nicely together.

With the recently announced NOES box set I would love to see a similar box set for the Child's Play films. I have the Seed of Chucky CD from LLL and that is also a really enjoyable score to listen to away from the movie.

To quote Chucky at 0:16, "Where is it...w-where is it...?"

If there's any chance of this score finally getting a release, I assume it'll be near halloween this year.
