Mine arrived yesterday. A nice, low-key companion to THE QUEEN, with a bit of THE GHOST WRITER's style thrown in. No big showpiece tracks, but still glad I picked it up. Well to be fair, the subject matter of the film THE SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP doesn't really lend itself for showpiece tracks. But I haven't seen the film, so I could be wrong. I guess I'm comparing it to THE QUEEN, where there was a fantastic theme for the driving montages of Diana, and a sweeping piece for when Elizabeth goes out in her Range Rover, and a few other big moments. This doesn't really have anything like that. There's lots of background music, which is lovely but subtle and a few bits clearly meant for montages. I haven't seen the film either, don't have HBO unfortunately. There also seem to be two John Williams nods, one almost direct quote of the main theme from SABRINA and one piece that seems based on the main theme from THE EIGER SANCTION, unless I'm totally off.
