My all time favorite released or unreleased horror music are the two soundtracks for Fear No Evil and Ritual of Evil, two made-for-TV movies from 1969 and 1971, written by the great William (before he was Billy) Goldenberg. I gave up waiting for them, as they will never happen, especially since Fear is considered lost, and made myself a cd of bits of the music from my '80s from-the-TV VHS tapes of the films. The sound is not great, my editing is pretty poor, but since people are linking to YouTube, I figured I'd try to link to my equally suspect files. Anyway, if this is allowed, and anyone is interested, here they are:

HELL NIGHT

I've been longing for a CD release of this score for years... a dream that probably will never materialize.
I was in contact with producer Bruce Cohn Curtis back in '06 and was told that he still had the mastertapes and had plans of doing a CD sometime in the future. Ten years have passed since then, but alas, there's still no sign of a CD release. Oh well.

@Mikael. Please suggest this project to HowlinWolf Records !! I think they currently are the only label which would work on such a release. Especially if the tapes are confirmed to be not lost.

Sometimes this works just great. A few months ago I have learned that a German label is going to release a certain horror movie so I contacted them and asked if they could also put a isolated score track on the BD !! They agreed and might be even doing also a CD as an extra.

I did contact HowlinWolf records at the time about a possible CD release of this score (and some other obscure titles) and they seemed interested. However, I'm not sure if they ever got in contact with producer Bruce Cohn Curtis though.
Bruce told me that they dealt with the tapes when they re-did the score from mono to stereo for new Hell Night DVD’s in the foreign territories.

MADMAN

This score was supposed to be released on CD and vinyl by Death waltz records last fall. Hopefully it hasn't been cancelled.

Humphrey Searle did not write that many scores. He was a concert hall composer known as one of the pioneers of serial music and promoted that art while he was at the BBC. Soon after hitting it big with WEST SIDE STORY director Robert Wise went in a totally different direction with 1962’s THE HAUNTING. He somehow managed to get Searle to write a rare film score for him. Outside of some Herrmann I cannot think of a horror score that has stayed with me so long. The many contrasts of quiet tinkling piano and bells to exploding brass is absolutely unique. I don’t think it has been equaled. And, with it, he showed great skills at the melodic too.

A gorgeous, melodic, unreleased orchestral horror score for "The Godsend" (1980), composed and conducted by Roger Webb. Wonderful string writing.

This was a Golan-Globus Cannon film, now owned by MGM. Curious if the tapes still exist for this one.
