Just last night watched HEROES 1977, Henry Winkler, Sally Field movie also featured Harrison Ford.

I think this was Winkler's first Feature film role. He played a Vietnam vet who escaped from a vet hospital to find his old army buddies and start a worm farm. It was good to see Winkler be able to do something more than "The Fonz".

Jack Nitzsche contributed a gentle score with 2 major themes that were light and pleasant.

I bought the LP back in the day and it was nice to revisit it again.

I remember the finale of the film using the Kansas song "Carry on my Wayward son" but on the DVD they replaced it with a Vocal called "HEROES" that I think was on the original LP album, possibly even written by Nitzsche but never used in the original theatrical release of the film. Interesting.

The film itself, came off as kind of strange. At times it was a screwball comedy with writing that could only be pulled off by a fine actress like Sally Field. They meet on a bus and fall in love during the journey. A young pre- Han Solo / Indy Jones Harrison Ford played a sort of hayseed vet buddy. Winkler had some great moments, but at times seemed a touch calculated in his portrayal of a young man tortured by his war memories .

Noticed a quick cameo in the first 5 minutes of the film by John Casevettes as a doctor in the vet hospital. Winkler himself did an amazing stunt running after a bus and jumping onto the front of it, that could have been disastrous, if he fell. Was shocked that they let him do it.

Anyone remember this nice score? It's love theme is quite nice. The music even reminded me more of Dave Grusin's style in parts in some gentle rock elements. Please share your thoughts.

Sally Field was pretty hot back then:

"Carry on" worked much better in the film's finale than the replacement song:

I remember this film zoob and I own the LP (but it now resides in my parent's house attic).
I remember Richard Hazard's name appearing on the LP, did he write some stuff or just orchestrate for Nitzsche?
The film was quite offbeat and enjoyable, I haven't seen it in a long time, or listened to the LP for many moons.
I'd buy it on CD, maybe a twofer with some other forgotten 70's score by Holdridge or Grusin.
Carole (my partner) looked not unlike Sally Field did in this film and the 70's, back in the day, which helped me like it even more.

Hey zoob, you shouldn't abandon your own threads like that!
And answer the damned question, would ya! wink

To be honest, I don't know the answer to the Richard Hazard question. My old LP is buried in storage. I just recently found the DVD at a Big Lots store for $3.00, so I picked it up to revisit the film and score.

If Intrada or Kritzerland ever release a CD of this LP in the future (with another 70's score = bonus) I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Anyone else?
