I really wish Varese would do one of their 1000 copy limited edition jobbies on this score.
I have the LP and a CD-r transfer, but the real deal would be nice.
What a Main Title! Surely one of Pino's best. But so unlike a horror main title. It's off kilter and fun.
Plus, those mannequin voices are some of the scariest film music ever written!
And the Love Theme...so delicate, with a melancholy feel to it.
Hard to believe this music was written for a cheap, Z-grade horror film hardly anybody saw.
Let's hear it for TOURIST TRAP!!! smile

My heart skipped a beat when I saw this thread title, thinking maybe that it had just been released! I don't have any incarnations of the score and would welcome a soundtrack. Tourist Trap remains one of the freakiest, scariest, weirdest horror movies of all time, and the score was perfect for it.

Amen.

Easily the most terrifying movie for me when I was a child. There was like a 3 year period where I was afraid to go into department stores with my mom. hahah

Great score.

Chuck Connors was really scary !!

Absolutely one of Donaggio's best scores but I think we are all dead before Varese even thinks about releasing it on CD.

If I build it, they will come wink
Maybe 2011 is the year!

A very good movie and an excellent score. I'd pick up a CD of it in two seconds. The love theme is just gorgeous -- Pino really excels at love themes. smile

My personal favorite Donaggio score. Odd (and colorful) orchestrations, not to mention a beautiful love theme.

Here's hoping for a Varese Club re-release in the near future.

This film gets a shiny new bluray release very soon. I wonder if it will prompt a CD release of this great score.

In typical DONAGGIO style the end theme is lovely and memorable.

Interesting. This is available for download on Charles Band's website Full Moon Tunes:

http://www.fullmoontunes.com/#!/Tourist-Trap/p/39749727/category=0

Perhaps the reason Varese didn't release this is because Charles Band somehow had the rights to the music this whole time (at least, since the Symphonic Suites CD)?

Donaggio's score for "Tourist Trap" has been a favorite of mine for nearly two decades. Would be amazing if this was a crisp, remastered recording, but I'm not willing to shell out $10 to find out (not yet, anyway). Are we **absolutely** sure Varese doesn't have the rights to this anymore & that there **isn't** a chance of a club CD?

Me too. But my big question at the moment is if the Full Moon download is an LP rip or a remaster of the LP tracks. I already have the LP and Symphonic Suites CD so if it's a scratchy rip I don't need to pay $10 for it.

Interesting that they're also offering downloads of "Troll," "Parasite" and "The Day Time Ended" which were Intrada releases, though from what I understand Richard Band owned all of those. It is possible brother Charles, who produced "Tourist Trap," owns Donaggio's music.

I just tweeted them about it so hopefully we'll find out soon.

From what I understand,
Charles Band (Full Moon) had controlling rights to CRAWLSPACE and thorough him Intrada issued it.

It would seem TOURIST TRAP may follow suit very soon!
