Who is Nigel Goodrich? Well according to the IMDB, this is his FIRST film as a composer. Seriously. He's more than a first time composer, he's one of the most sought out and popular pop music producers of the last ten years. He co-produced Radiohead's OK Computer and has worked with artists such as U2 and Paul McCartney. Giorgio Moroder was a "first time composer" from a similar background and he won an Oscar. All around awesome choice for this film.

Is this a new "Universal Theme"? I mean shouldn't it be credited as Arranged by instead?

My god....well, I bought the Scott Pilgrim score blind for several reasons...its from a first time composer (but not producer: Radiohead, etc), the movie looks awesome... And then guess what...the music is pretty darn good, but theres GOD FORSAKEN DIALOGUE ON THE TRACKS!!! Would it hurt soundtrack producers to listen to soundtrack fans just ONCE when we say...theres maybe .01% of score fans out there who LIKE dialogue on soundtracks. It didnt work on Braveheart, didnt work on Gladiator, didnt work on Angelas Ashes and it NEVER works. Rant over. Oh man, what? That's such great news! Whenever you get through with it, let us know what tracks?

Whenever you get through with it, let us know what tracks? Well, I have not seen the movie yet, so I'm not entirely sure about placement of score, but from the totally awesome dialogue (sarcasm) it appears that it might be contained to the movies fight sequences. Fight, Rumble and The Grind all have completly weird dialogue. And by weird, I'm talking the placement of just one word "Whatever!" sometimes. Uh yeah...theres a completly awesome and memorable piece of dialogue. Right up there with Mel Gibsons speech from Braveheart. Oh heres another one..."Sorry I guess"....you can tell what track thats in. Seriously, theres got to be actual memorable dialogue from the film, but its like they went out of their way to include the stupidest parts imaginable. And if this albums dialogue is THE BEST parts....wow...George Lucas just entered the Shakespeare hall of fame. But about the music. Its really cool if you like 80's atmospheric, type scores with electronics. You even get some obvious references to 80's videogame classics like Legend of Zelda. Pretty good I would say...except for the dialogue.

theres GOD FORSAKEN DIALOGUE ON THE TRACKS!!! Not on most of the tracks, and on the ones with dialogue, it very much works. Most of it is situated between the cues. For the record, I loved the movie. I never felt it was too long, if anything, it should longer to allow for a bit more character development (which is why I'll be picking up the books in the near future...)
