After quite a while, I finally got around to listening to my above arrangement for Predator.

It doesn't work. Flow is all wrong.

Therefore I came up with this one, which does!

Side A

1. Main Title
2. Something Else
3. The Truck
4. The Waiting
5. The Girl's Escape
6. We're All Gonna Die

Side B

1. Battle Plans
2. Hand to Hand Combat
3. Predator's Big Finish
4. The Rescue & End Title

if I'm going to hang artwork on my wall, I would prefer to have actual art, not some doodles made by Joe Schmoe on his napkin.

In that case, Thor, I can fully understand your own reluctance to get involved in any way.

Actually, as ever, your arguments make no sense. It's the hanging of the artwork on the wall that is the equivalent here, not creating the art itself.

I did an imaginary LP version of "Once a Thief" that mixed tracks from the Verve LP with the actual soundtrack. It ran about 40 minutes. When I find the track list, I'll post it.

I attempted to do a "Wait Until Dark" LP, using the OST and the 45 that came out at the time. What is tough about this example is that the source cues from the film are so short. If there were a real LP, Hank would have had Dick and Ted Nash each blow for 16 bars on those tunes. He probably would have done an extended arrangement of the music box/whistling cue also.

Here's my proposed RETURN OF THE JEDI LP program.

Granted, the score had a release back when the film came out, but considering how poor it was, I decided to try my hand at editing together an improved version:

SIDE ONE (slightly under 23 minutes):

1. Main Title & The Death Star (5:15)
2. Jabba the Hutt (3:43)
3. Parade of the Ewoks (3:27)
4. Alliance Assembly (1:36)
5. Into The Trap & The Dungeon Fight (4:01)
6. Luke and Leia (4:50)

SIDE TWO (slightly under 23 minutes):

7. Return of the Jedi (4:43)
8. Heroic Ewok (2:02)
9. The Emperor (4:16)
10. Darth Vader's Death & The Funeral Pyre (3:29)
11. The Forest Battle (4:04)
12. Ewok Celebration & Finale (4:10)

I primarily used the Anthology as a source, with a few bits taken from the special editions. I applied some remastering to the SE tracks, so they don't sound too distracting in the middle of everything else.

"The Death Star" is a complex amalgamation of "Approaching The Death Star" and "The Emperor Arrives": The first of these skips the 3:34-3:48 portion in an edit mimicking Gerhardt's version. After what would be roughly the 4:03 mark of the unabridged track, there's a seamless seque to an analogious part about 25 seconds into "The Lightsaber" (actually an insert to "The Emperor Arrives") to introduce the emperor's theme. The 1:05-1:48 portion of "The Emperor Arrives" plays out after that, but instead of sequing into the Imperial March finale of the said piece, the more bombastic finale of "Approaching The Death Star" plays out instead.

"Jabba The Hutt" is the sole cheat here, as I sourced it from the Gerhardt disc. However, there WAS a (lost) recording made of the concert suite back in 1983, so I considered the inclusion justified.

"Alliance Assembly" skips the 1:15-1:52 section of the original track.

"Into The Trap" skips the 2:00-2:18 section of the original track. After the rebel fanfare statement, there's a seque to the 1:50 portion of "Fight In The Dungeon" (I did some Gerhardt-mimicking here as well, as you can see).

"Return of the Jedi" skips the 1:20-1:40 section of the original track.

"The Emperor" combines material from three different tracks. First, "Luke Confronts The Emperor" plays up until the 0:53 mark, where I used the orchestral crash to connect it to the 0:08-1:10 portion of "The Emperor's Death". The orchestral crash at the end of that then crossfades to the 1:10-2:30 portion of "Final Duel", after which the 1:18-2:15 portion of "The Emperor's Death" kicks in (there's a fadeout at the end).

"Darth Vader's Death" skips the first 15 seconds of the original track (creating a clean opening required complex editing trickery involving a fade-in and the use of some reverse echo). The track seques to the film version of "Funeral Pyre for a Jedi".

"Ewok Celebration" is the version used on the Anthology's fourth disc. The whole 2:35-6:25 portion of the unedited "Ewok Celebration - Finale" track has been removed, allowing the album to skip the pointless concert suite reprises.
