From Perseverance's website.

"Kickboxer Back in Stock! - It's been almost four years since the original release of this classic Eighties album by Paul Hertzog, so we feel we are not running the risk of pissing anyone off if we release the second 500 batch of this album. It is identical to the 2006 release. Sorry, no signed copies are available for this title. "

Cool news! This is a fine 80's electronic score, with a suprisingly catchy theme. Reminds me a little of Big Trouble In Little China. Really gets epic in the last battle. I don't mind the repress, as 500 was always woefully inadequate for this popular score.

Great for those who missed out, less great for those who bought it fast when it first came out because they were told this pressing was only limited to 500 pieces.
It is still a Great release though!

Yeah, but even if they had pressed 1000 at the start, I bet you it would have gone quickly.

If anyone bought because it was 500 but wouldn't have at 1000, they are an absolute idiot.

There's a well known financing method, called "The Kickboxer Soundtrack Method", that virtually covers the entire cost of your kid's college tuition. Doesn't Perseverance know they are hurting the children by devaluing copies of KICKBOXER from the previous pressing? Poor Junior will be kicked out of Harvard...

I don't recall, but was there a notation on the back cover of the original release that said, "This might be a limited edition of 500 units"? This isn't the first time they've printed more. I stopped trusting them regarding copy numbers a long time ago.

I think they don't know what the term "limited edition" means. As far as I know it doesn't mean... "This is how many copies we've decided to print initially... we may or may not print up some more depending on whether or not we underestimated the demand for this title. Or maybe we'll print up some more a few years down the line. Whatever. Just keep it in mind that when we say that our CDs are limited, it's a marketing tactic intended to cause people to act fast or miss out that we are playing fast and loose with".

I'm talking as someone who originally purchased ONE copy of this CD 4 years ago, and currently owns zero copies (I sold my one copy without opening it when I saw what they were going for on eBay).

I missed this when it first came out and have been making do with the iTunes version. But I'm so excited to finally be able to purchase the actual CD.

Robin did ask a few months after the release a few years ago for advice on the FSM forums regarding releasing another batch of Kickboxer due to the demand for the title. As I remember he got shot down at the time (and IMO can fully understand why, at the time) however he did state that due to licensing they may release the title again in the near future, possibly expanded/with songs etc.

Even though the title has not been expanded I would say 4 years or so is not a violation of the label's limited edition stance. Limited edtion does not mean that it will never be released again...

I also think that 4 years is O.K. !!

That is exactly what it means. Not by the same label, in any case. I don't think you know what "limited edition" means either.

Great news. I will not rush over to their site and buy it though, as I haven't really heard it. I already have a couple of other Hertzog CDs, like Freeing The Waters and Bloodsport.

I will have preferred a complete release, with the songs and the score...

Well I know what it means, and 'same label' has nothing to do with it.

And it's STILL a 'limited edition' (though granted, not a 'limited edition of 500' perhaps). If you're really annoyed that FOUR YEARS later a label decided to press 500 after a measy run of 500 in the first place, I think perhaps you shoud go find another hobby because you CLEARLY don't enjoy film scores.

Odd that some ppl seem to resent this "re-appearing".

I don't.

they should just stop showing numbers on the product so people stop bitching and they can print more if there's demand.

I would be kind of upset a little if I found out this news after I had rushed out to purchase 1 copy of the 500 available knowing it would be limited edition to 500. Since I was unable to get 1 of the first 500 at the time of release I am excited about this batch! I wanted a copy but refused to pay the ungodly amount of money they went for on eBay or forums. Very much like Silvestri’s “PREDATOR” release by Varese back in 2003 (which I hope is re-released someday soon as I would like to own an official copy and refuse to take out a 2nd mortgage to purchase on eBay LOL!)

Since the announcement of releasing another batch of 500 I have mixed emotions. While I am very excited I finally get to own an actual CD of Kickboxer and don’t have to listen to my iTunes version anymore, I also feel for those who acted fast to purchase a copy of the first 500 or those who spent tons of money on a copy from eBay or whatnot. It’s the excitement of “I own a copy of only “X” copies manufactured”, but it's not only about the qty released but also about the music!!! I completely understand people’s mixed emotions on this.

In addition to all this being said, I am completely blown away that Perseverance LIMITED this release to 500 copies the first time around…I would’ve expected at least 1,000 – 1,200 copies of this title. I don’t think Hertzog’s “Bloodsport” has a certain number on that release or does it? I knew it said LIMITED EDITION but I am not sure if they have a quantity attached to it.
