I believe a full score was recorded, but couldn't say I witnessed the truth of that first hand. The photos of Barry in some of the Silva Screen releases are, I believe, from the recording sessions of Year Of The Comet. Original: Nothing in that trailer sounds remotely Barry-like to me, but who knows. Revised: Okay Colin, maybe. Cheers

Original: Nothing in that trailer sounds remotely Barry-like to me, but who knows. Revised: Okay Colin, maybe. Cheers I agree. That portion sounds a LOT like Dances With Wolves, and the last part, from 1:36 to the end, with the horns, is either Barry or somebody aping his style very, very well.

I was lucky enough to have lunch with Basil & Roberta Poledouris and Greig McRitchie during the scoring sessions for RoboCop 3. McRitchie was working a lot with Barry during that period, and told me that, during the Barry sessions for Year of the Comet, director Peter Yates said something like "This is the worst film I've ever made." I do love the poster, and I like the Hummie Mann score a lot (despite its similarity to Poledouris' A Whale for the Killing), and I wishwishwish someone would release the Barry score some day (I remember hearing that bit in the trailer). Much as I love William Goldman, his claim that Year of the Comet was a flop because people didn't want to see a movie about wine is hard to take seriously. Besides all the film's many other problems (including a remarkably lame finale), the fact they were admittedly trying to make a Cary Grant-Audrey Hepburn-style romantic comedy thriller yet had Timothy Daly and Penelope Ann Miller in the leads is pretty much all you need to know to explain the film's boxoffice failure.

One of the worst I've seen. With William Goldman and Peter Yates on board it's difficult to explain why it was such a disaster. Would like to hear Barry's score though.

If John Barry's score exists then surely there would be a strong market for a 1000 or 1500 release at least?

I do love the poster... Perhaps a double album, but please keep the poster. The artwork is superb. Cheers!

Would be nice if 'Year Of The Comet' and 'Goodbye Lover' were released in 2011. Fingers firmly crossed.

In the light of this weeks sad news surely someone will now release John Barry's rejected score for this movie. Fingers tightly crossed.
