I haven't seen this movie in at least 30 years. Maybe it's time to check it out from the library. Did so just now, and finally cracked open that article, too.

A great score, deserving of its Oscar nomination and another feather in Frank Churchill's cap. I was never quite sure what the separate contributions were between him and Plumb. This is yet another Disney score that would benefit from a Legacy Edition release.

This is yet another Disney score that would benefit from a Legacy Edition release. Why ? Only the contemporary Menken and Zimmer scores were expanded on their Legacy editions (though they may not be so contemporary anymore, I guess). The real classics (Pinocchio, Cinderella, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty and Mary Poppins) were sadly left as they were released before in the 90s (except for Mary Poppins which came in 2004) with missing music. They added a second disc with their lost chords material which, though interesting, does not compensate for the missing parts. Fantasia and the never before released Aristocats and Robin Hood are another matter, of course. So, except for the valid reason that there may be people who do not own Bambi's music on cd and might want it, if the previous pattern is repeated, I don't really see how a "legacy" edition would be interesting in any way

I hear you on Mary Poppins, Pinocchio, and Lady and the Tramp only getting "bonus" content but for me that stuff is still worth it to hear. Even Fantasia, which combined two existing releases but made it very convenient (plus I recall it added one extra cue). But Cinderella, Robin Hood, and The Aristocrats all got new music and I'm not sure about the "Disneyland" album - I think that was cobbled together from various existing recordings. Really the only one missing stuff was Sleeping Beauty which I think is mostly complete but doesn't have the extraordinary music for the fairies hastily flying back to the cottage to warn Prince Philip. I think Bambi could have a good chance of getting extra material.

There’s at least 10 minutes of music missing from Sleeping Beauty, which is pretty much scored wall-to-wall. Aside from the cue mentioned above (which is actually abbreviated on the OST found on ITunes), the most notable pieces still missing from the current album are the film version of the cue “Blue Bird,” the music for Maleficent’s capture of Prince Philip (which precedes the cue you brought up), and a wonderfully atmospheric cue for Maleficent descending into the dungeon preceding “A Fairy Tale Come True.”

I thought the were straight re-releases from the 90's sources.

Wait, Cinderella and Aristocrats Legacy Collections have additional score? I thought the were straight re-releases from the 90's sources. You're right for CINDERELLA - I was referring to the re-recorded tracks on Disc 2 of the legacy collection as "expanded" because it seemed like they included "new" material. But the Disc 1 is still the 90's sources as you say. For THE ARISTOCATS, the 90's release had a smattering of George Bruns' score but the Legacy Collection pretty much doubled that amount with unreleased cues. I'm being optimistic about BAMBI - Disney is very scattered and the Legacy Collection has been sporadic with its releases but I would hope at some point someone is able to encourage them to fully preserve their older films and scores.
