I've e-mailed Varese about this many times but keep getting the same old answer of "we'll look into it". But seriously, Predator 2 really needs an expanded, definitive release.

The 1990 CD (20 years old now!) presented the 11 tracks completely out of order and featured alternate music that wasn't actually in the movie, not to mention many missing cues. The inlay did not feature any additional information and the cover art just sucked!

I'd love to see this happen. Silvestri's score to the sequel is quite underrated IMO and I'd love to see it get the treatment it deserves.

The 20-year-old Varese CD presents the tracks as follows.

1. Main Title (02:42)
2. First Carnage (02:36)
3. Tunnel Chase (04:49)
4. Truly Dead (04:54)
5. Danny Gets It (03:17)
6. Rest In Pieces (01:30)
7. El Scorpio (02:39)
8. This Is History (06:25)
9. Swinging Rude Boys (02:35)
10. Dem Bones (04:26)
11. End Title (08:45)

Total Duration: 00:44:38

But an expanded, chronological CD would be:

1. Main Title (02:42)
2. El Scorpio (02:39)
3. First Carnage (02.36)
4. Swinging Rude Boys (02:35)
5. Voodoo Posse Massacre (??:??)
6. The Penthouse (??:??)
7. Danny Gets It (??:??) -Film and 1990 CD version are completely different.
8. Truly Dead (04:54)
9. Rest in Pieces (01:30)
10. Subway Carnage (??:??)
11. Tunnel Chase (??:??)-Shortened for the 1990 CD
12. Slaughterhouse Fight (??:??)
13. Surgery (??:??)
14. Dem Bones (04:26)
15. Predators (??:??)
16. End Title (08:45)

Total Duration would be just under 80 minutes and would fit on a single CD.

The percussion sessions involved in Predator 2 are amazing and more of this material is welcome. I made my own suite of Predator II for jogging purposes smile

Since Varese doesn't seem to be interested, why not LaLaLand?

What say you, MV?

Agreed. I'd like to see this get the expanded "Eraser" treatment, same goes for Judge Dredd.

Hope not.

Why would you even bother posting that?? Is someone going to put a gun to your head and force you to buy it?

It's one thing not to like a score, fine. But to actually hope that others who do enjoy it don't get a new expanded version is just retarded.

I'd buy an expanded Predator 2 in a new york minute. It was one of the first Varese CDs I ever bought and I'd happily shell out for an upgrade. More Silvestri never hurts.

Mutant, this was my reaction as well, but I tended to ignore it. Someone who posts two words, no explanation why hardly deserves any attention IMO.

I agree, this was among the first mail order batch I placed at colosseum at the time. It's amazing that it's 20 years old.

I'd buy an expanded and remastered edition of Silvestri's Predator 2 in a heartbeat. The Varèse release did also suffer from its mixing. Its sound quality could be improved quite a bit.

One of the first soundtrack CASSETTES I bought, back when Varese stuff was virtually impossible to get in stores. Remember special ordering from record stores? Anyway, I wanted this score because of the "This Is History" cue of all things (I don't know what to call it, but that "lunging brass" is awesome).

Yeah man. I remember getting some cash and a CD player for my 13th birthday and immediately going to HMV to pick up Predator 2.

I was listening to it back in high-school and this super cute girl that I knew named Stacey asked me what it was. She grabbed my headphones and listened to I think the first track. She made this sour face, handed me my headphones and told me I'm the weirdest guy she knows.

Damn right this could use a definitive release. Any Silvestri Predator score is vital. I think the original Varese album had 55 minutes on it, so we have 20 minutes to play with.

Good post.

LOL! When I was a teenager, I instinctively knew my classmates would react in this way, so I kept my musical tastes a secret. At least we didn't have portable devices back in those days to tempt fate!

I too really enjoy the Varese release. I would however be open to purchasing a re-release, but it would largely depend on what was featured as part of that said release.

I'd be first in line to buy a full score release of this title. I really love the Skywalker Symphony Orchestra's performance. It's flawless, particularly in the end credit suite.

I loved how Silvestri included all of the thematic material from the original film's score, but in such a new context that the score has a completely different flavor. I would definitely be interested in an expanded remaster of this title.

I agree, it could be improved considerably. On particular occasions, that is more important to me than even obtaining more music.
