Quartet Records said: I tried to acquire the rights to this score last year (one of my favorites of Barrys seventies), but were already licensed to another label.
Well it's nearly five years on since this was said and still nothing on The Tamarind Seed front.. is the other label struggling with rights or looking for better elements perhaps?

I suppose that license should be expired after five years. There must be some problems with the elements.

The latest from Network (who was compiling the score elements for the upcoming Blu-Ray) is they don't have the complete score and what they do have is from sources of noticeably different quality. I guess that means it would lead to an unsatisfactory CD and that's why nothing's come out.
They are including as much music as is available on the Blu-Ray so that will be your go-to source for what exists.

Thanks for the information, Stephen! I hope there will be a label which decides to release what is releasable. I'm sure there is something nice it could be coupled with.
We also had a number of releases over the past few years from not so great sources which were nonetheless great. Especially on Quartet Records.
Just wondering if there is any update on The Tamarind Seed. Did the master tapes ever show up or was what we got on the Network Blu-ray release all that has been found?. Could it be a possibility for a new recording?.

Happy 2018 to all group members.....
Probably my most wanted John Barry score, notwithstanding the boot release, my DVD rip, the short Silva recording, and the Network BluRay music score ... I know other JB scores have less exposure and thus warrant attention but I love this score. I played the BluRay music score last month - I constantly hum/whistle along to the beautiful melodies and catchy action theme.
And, yes, I concur with Peter re: new recording / Happy New Year!
I recall this thread and how Ron Hardcastle longed for a release of this beautiful score. The 10 minutes on Zulu is not enough for me or anyone I am sure.
What are the chances? Definitely one of my grails...
Surely something is happening on this score? If the Network is all there is, could someone just tell us. I do get a little tired of all the secrecy.....

We never did find out which label worked on this in 2010 and never released it. I wonder if it was Varese.
