Now that Intrada released all Michael Winner titles and almost all Peckinpah titles, what's left of Fielding "film music"?
From Bay Cities compilations, there are two remaining titles: "Johnny Got His Gun" and "The Gambler".
From Sam Peckinpah, there is still one last title: "Junnior Bonner".
From Clint Eastwood as a director, a regular "The Outlaw Josey Wales" is needed.
From Clint Eastwood as an actor, find "Escape from Alcatraz" directed by Don Siegel.

What other titles did you think of?

And what is with Beyond The Poseidon Adventure (1979)?
This was also scored by Jerry Fielding and as I remembererd this really unecessary sequel to
The Poseidon Adventure (1972) had a solid score.
If I am not wrong Beyond the Poseidon Adventure was one of the last projects Fielding scored.

A War Of Children
Beyond the Poseidon Adventure
Mr Horn

You mentioned two television scores ("A War Of Children", "Mr Horn") and one film score.
These television scores were in the Bay Cities compilations.

Fielding wrote music twice for director Michael Ritchie.
"The Bad News Bears" (1976) and "Semi-Tough" (1977)

What do you think of these scores?

What other titles did you think of?

  • 1962 "The Nun And The Sergeant"
  • 1964 "For Those Who Think Young"
  • 1967 "The Crazy World Of Laurel And Hardy"
  • 1970 "Suppose They Gave A War And Nobody Came?"
  • 1973 "The Deadly Trackers"
  • 1975 "The Black Bird"
  • 1980 "Cries In The Night" (a Canadian film)
  • 1980 "Below The Belt"

Fielding was also attached to a couple of "McHale's Navy" films during the mid-'60s, but I'm not clear if these are film scores or TV episodes edited into feature length programs.
Reportedly, Jerry Fielding also scored an hour-long documentary on Grace Kelly entitled "Monte Carlo: C'est La Rose" (but unsure it this is for television).

There's apparently more music yet untapped in the Fielding well...

The McHale's Navy movies were films apart from the series, not compilations. I'd love to see a complete "Gauntlet" and the score to the TV anthology episode "Noon Wine".

What frustrates me about all Fielding releases is that they all sell out in a matter of days. Certainly it leaves people like me with close to no chance to get them. To this day, I haven't been able to get one limited Fielding release.

That's because a few people on eBay bought massive amounts and have literally been selling them for about a year, repeatedly. It was the worst case of buying to resell that I've seen yet. Now the poor economy and lack of demand have resulted in lower prices, and Chato's Land and Nightcomers frequently end at aroud 15-18 dollars.

Very true. I see that guy from Alaska selling off Intrada CDs all the time, and the same sold out titles always pop up over and over and over, and quite a number of them don't sell for more than $15. Heck, I've seen lots that have just barely made the $10 mark by the auction's end!

It's a good thing for me, at least, because I missed out on 6 out of the 10 total Fielding discs that Intrada has released. I can at least get Scorpio, Chato's Land and The Nightcomers for cheap. The remaining 3 will be more of a challenge.

By the way, Gray Lady Down is still available, Alex. smile

A re-release of Advise and Consent would be most welcome in the future...that and there's a bunch of TV work of his.

I hope that the successful pattern of Jerry Fielding releases on cd in the past few years will continue into the future. Anything and everything that is not currently available by Fielding I would welcome with open arms and wallet: film soundtracks, tv scores, and lp music. This is a fantastic time to be a Jerry Fielding fan.

If you can root it out of Eastwood and Malpaso productions, ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ may see a release in the year Never. big grin Not much score there, though

But I don't think that this movie has enough music for a CD, there isn't much score in it; perhaps not more than on the Bay Cities CD.
I think IF Intrada goes on producing Fielding CDs, the next one will be BEYOND POSEIDON ADVENTURE smile

I just received Chatos Land - Intrada Special Collection which I won on Ebay for about $27
    (still an extremley good price).
And if you really are interested in the Intrada Jerry Fielding Scores you only have to look from
time to time at Ebay....there are often auctions where you can get such cds at really reasonable
    prices.......
    Jerry Fielding forever.....

Fielding died in the Windsor Arms Hotel in Toronto while working on CRIES IN THE NIGHT. A short time after I remember asking the executive producer, Barry Allen, where the tapes were. He said he had lent them to a doctor friend. Later I tried to borrow them but to no avail...
