I just got this from my folks for my birthday. I don't even know where to start!
First disc I listened to was "The Power" and it's so much clearer and more dynamic than the previous versions. What an amazing set.

Everyone seems to be getting this for THE POWER! big grin

And that's not a bad thing.

Yes, but did ANOTHER thread have to be started (again) for this box?

Yes, IT did.

Unfortunately he has THE POWER.

This one's so much easier to scroll through and weed out what you don't want to read. This thread should work perfectly until it gets to be too long, and then I hope somebody starts a new thread about the same subject. I'll be anxious to check that one out, too!

THE POWER is frickin' awesome. Also was the first thing I listened to (was so disappointed originally when it seemed the "private" program was all that survived). Thank God the original tracks were found.

Well, technically I didn't create this thread, I found it at the bottom of the SAE product description for the Rozsa Box and when I did a search for threads, I only came up with the one complaining about sound quality on one of the discs, which I didn't want to contribute to.

I was surprised to be the first one to comment on the "official" thread about this awesome set.

Yes, the Power is stellar - I already owned the previous FSM version but I wanted this box of course for all the other great scores on there as well. My Dad was cool enough to get this for me for my birthday last saturday. He was like: "I knew you liked Goldsmith, but who's this guy?"

Though impressive and satisfying as a whole I am quite partial to the alternates from King Of Kings.

The set is worth the price for The Power alone, and I haven't ordere it yet.

I am thrilled to see this set is now availble. But Miklos Rozsa wrote more than just film music. He wrote numerous compositions for orchestra and chamber group. My father, Herschel Burke Gilbert, with whom Rosza shared 2 Academy nominations was friends with Rozsa (they lived near each other) and produced his string quartets and Rhapsody for Cello and Piano with members of the Pro Arte Quartet. Anyone interested can find it at LaurelRecords.com

Just wanted to bump this thread in light of the recent re-appreciation of all the great releases FSM has brought us in the last 15 years. There were a few big ticket items I was unable to afford at the time of their release, and I must confess this is one of them. I have had it on my Screen Archives wish-list for a while and, damn, what a feast. It will be mine one day. I will miss the grandeur of releases like this magnificent box set.

Heads up -- we are reducing this from 2000 to 1500 copies -- and we have 73 left in stock as of 2/12/12.

Contains everything except for actual body part of Miklos Rozsa.

A GREAT BOX indeed, one of your best production.

AUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH. Now I have to rush on this.

Minutes Later: As of three minutes ago, you have my money, Lukas. As time goes on, theres less and less of music that interests me since I've been blessed by having most of what I've ever wanted on disc. But this set was something I could not ignore, only put off for so long.

I got a couple bucks left to last the rest of the week. Thankfully, I went food shopping last thursday.

Incredible set!

Not to be too inflammatory, but I consider this a better buy than the Herrmann...

(I know: apples and oranges. And I have the Herrmann as well.)

But this Rozsa contains practically everything you need to have. Incredible array.

I still haven't listened to all of the disks yet; I keep listening to various single ones over and over....

Rozsa, Herrmann, and Newman are, really, my favorite film composers, all things considered.

They're the 3 ends of my Triangle of Greatness...

I was hoping to procrastinate a few more years on this one.
