Does anyone know who conducted the latter score?

I thought he did that one himself.

David Newman did it, he confirmed it with me over Facebook.

Legit releases for Wolfen and Deadly Blessing would be great, too. Particularly Wolfen.

Definitely. As vinylscrubber mentioned earlier, and I agree with him, Wolfen is the score that has the most seeds that would be used in his Wrath of Khan score and is really quite good. As one of the only "unmentionables" I ever bought, this one needs a proper legit release. Horner may not be proud of his work in some of his earlier scores, especially the action ones he doesn't seem to care for, but I would hope he might feel differently about Wolfen. It isn't an action score, but rather a dark moody expressionistic work. Just speculating and I could be totally wrong about his feelings on the subject. Here's hoping anyway!

WOLFEN definitely is a great score. Moody. Extremely atmospheric. Yes, it does show the roots of his "style", but WOW, in it's execution. I love the movie as well.

My favorite standout moments in this score are a) when Albert Finney follows Edward James Olmos (yes, BSG fans... Adama) to the seashore and get's more than what he bargained for, and b) when Albert Finney/Diane Venora and Dick O'Neill meet in front of Van Der Veer towers (WTC actually) at the finale. As all hell breaks loose, Horner has a brief, but extremely impressive action moment. The strings/brass and percussion certainly get a workout.

DEADLY BLESSING... Yes, it may have some OMEN moments, but this is just great stuff. The opening titles with stills of the religious sect at work is actually quite beautiful. As the picture becomes more dark... so does the score. Best moments... Susan Buckner and Jeff East on their evening get together when the "killer" turns things into a bloodbath. And... the fight with Maren Jensen (yup, that would be Athena from the original BSG) and Lois Nettleton having their fight. Horner scores these two sequences with some terrific horror/action music.

Maybe some day...

Oh, and check out the jewel case surprise..

Wow. I've had this ever since it came out and I never noticed. Wow.

My jewel case is clear, so I could see the artwork the whole time. Maybe your case is from a later pressing. Or the original case broke...

Watched the film the other day and have to say a good bit of Horner's score holds up very nicely. Also, did anyone here notice that the orchestra's performances seemed to improve as the film went along? Considering the complexity of/activity in a lot of that music, the players, I feel, handled the task admirably. Don't know if Horner had locked picture when he scored this, but the music seems to "hit" all the scene cuts, points of emphasis, quite well.
