Italian film.
Music by Leonard Rosenman.

Normally came out in 2001.

The story of a blind boy, prodigal violinist.
According to the NewsItaliaPress, Rosenman uses the «Ciaconna» by Vitali.
The score was recorded with the Sif-309 in Sofia and mixed in Rome.

Has anyone seen this movie?
Has anyone heard the score?
Has the movie even come out?

And when was the last time Rosenman did a score?

According to the sources I found, Jurij was his last. Recorded in 2000. Before that he apparently had not composed for a movie for 18 years. Which is kind of whacky since he did RoboCop 2 and others more recently than 18 years ago.

Here's the poster:

I can't yet wrap my mind around the recording of the score.

But I want to, so I hope to see it at some point.

The CD is obscure. I meant to hunt it down one day. It should be more widly available.

I hear hints of his wonderful but sadly unreleased score to the TV movie "The Face on the Milk Carton".

You don't have to hunt for the CD. It's still available from Amazon in Europe.

It has the most wonderful end title. You can listen to it at SAE (where it's also still available):

Glad you ask, because I have only the most fond memories about this one!

It was the last score ever composed by Maestro Leonard Rosenman. The CD was released a year or so later by the Rai Trade label in Italy.

It was the very first orchestral recording session I was able to assist personally, and meet the composer himself was a huge joy for me. However, I remember sometimes he was difficult to communicate, because some symptoms of his disease were starting to show up.

At the time, Lukas was so kind to publish a recollection of my incredible experience on this very same source.

This is a wonderful story, thank you very much for sharing it.

I'll have to check this out. I often like 'melodic' Rosenman - Especially the Glory-of-Nature music from PROPHECY or the big, tuneful send-off of his otherwise almost unlistenable score to KEEPER OF THE CITY: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oaAKnasoJY

Well, if SAE has some stock of it, then I retract my statement of availability, which was accurate years ago when I searched for it.

However, the sample on SAE's site isn't playing. It's not a problem on my end, as every single other title with samples that I clicked on (at least a dozen), play.

I look forward to one day owning the CD.

I do still want to see this film, so I can make heads or tails out of the score on cd, but it ain't come to the library yet.

According to IDMB, the last film Rosenman scored was the short “Rebel”; however, “Jurji” was the last feature film he scored, and one of his best scores, even if the film never got a D.V.D. release (it’s not even on You Tube).

I have not seen the movie, but the music is wonderful. Whike it's clear a Rosenman score with modernist elements, it is also a very beautiful and haunting score, tightly written. Definitely one of his finest scores aand works well as pure music.

I got this CD as soon as it was released. It was a blind purchase because I had not seen the film and still haven't'
but Leonard Rosenman is one of my many favorites.
