I just saw this 1991 Eroll Morris documentary on Dr. Stephen Hawking. As usual with Morris, it's a "talking head" documentary with Hawking himself speaking about his life and discoveries - black holes, time etc., in addition to his friends, colleagues and family. Sometimes, these can get a bit boring, but it was a bit interesting in this case, given Hawking's own communication problems. It's also interesting to note that he could communicate by pressing a button at the time; while today, he's limited to tiny facial movements alone that are turned into speech by a language machine - the technology has kept up with his deteriorating state, so to speak. That's quite amazing. Philipp Glass' music was quite delightful; some "delicious" percussive effects that made all the minimalistic loops soothing rather than grating (which sometimes happens with Glass). Was there ever a soundtrack? Perhaps it was reworked into a concert piece of some sort?

Interesting film, and a good score indeed. Glass rarely disappoints me. Unfortunately, a soundtrack was not released (at least according to my research).
