I would love to see this come out, some of the score, songs and classical music. I tried at a label, but was shot down, sadly. I know comedies aren't the biggest sellers, but I think this would be a fun one and has stood the test of time. I even think a vinyl would be cool with Tom and Shelly on the cover sitting on the house. I can literally visualize it. Last year was the 30th Anniversary, I tried, but was shot down. I even know where ALL the music is, songs, score EVERYTHING and have access whenever a deal is in place. Maybe in the future a label can do it.

How much score is in this film? I wanted to check it out and I'm using a poor copy of the film on youtube, but so far I'm thirty-two minutes in with skimming and I've only encountered one short cue.

The copy that Michel gave me ran for 52 mins. That included the pop stuff of course.

Well that's a real downer. I was hoping this was in Varese's CD Club plans. I have a very small 'wants list' these days, but this title was on it.

LLL have spoken of their aversion to future comedy scores. Perhaps Bruce Kimmel could have a shot at this one?

The pop stuff is a must for inclusion. That may make it harder to license of course... frown

Not necessarily. If they only include the "pop" songs that Michel did, it wouldn't be. I don't know how much it would be for the classical pieces, though.

That said, I'd definitely pick it up.

I should clarify that it was only the pop stuff that Michel was involved with like 'The Heart is So Willing', not all of the incidental soundtrack stuff listed above. The rest was Michel's instrumental music - the South American stuff, the rock orchestra etc.

Michel gave me a copy of this score before he passed away. I spoke to most of the great soundtrack labels at the time and was told there would be no interest in releasing it. This was very disappointing, because I always imagined it would be quite popular.

Don't know if it'd be possible, but I'd like to get a chance to listen to the score, if it's not too troubling. I'm pretty much re-listening to Stephen Bishop's song where I have to write a spec remake screenplay of The Money Pit, which I rather not get spit on my ass when I really don't want to recycle the romantic couple situation again, but I pretty much want to focus on a family of three (a father, mother, and daughter).

Notable (if limited) update from Stephen Bishop on his Twitter feed:

https://twitter.com/BishSongs/status/1698763644526612739

US Spotify link: https://open.spotify.com/album/3Trz8Xfix5vXW7zQnAPifV

Not seeing it on Apple Music but maybe I'm just not finding it.

Anyway, I'm such a sucker for this sound, with the shimmering synths and tuneful-as-all-get-out melody. I wonder if this suggests the possibility of an official soundtrack release?

I remember the clamour when everyone wanted MR MOM by Lee Holdridge releasing, many years ago.
Based on the fever/frenzy, you would have anticipated the CD selling out within 24-48 hours.
I see SAE are trying to (still/now) shift copies for $5 all these years later.
