Offensive and derogatory comments about homosexuality will not be tolerated on this site. This should have been made clear from the start, so it's my shame that I didn't do this.
We would not tolerate offensive remarks about a racial, ethnic or religious group, and gays and lesbians are no different.
If you feel somehow shackled in your political and religious beliefs that you can no longer talk about gays in offensive terms (you know what is offensive, so don't play dumb), TOO BAD. GO AWAY.
It should not be relevant, but many of our users are gay, not to mention many of the folks behind-the-scenes who work on our CDs and with our company. One of our business partners is a former director of GLAAD, and if he could handle Mel Gibson, he could handle a few bigots on our message board.
This is a private board and we are allowed to set a rule like this.
Now, one editorial remark. There are a few users who like to post a lot of gay topics. Privately, some of the right-wingers has written me to find that this is "baiting" them to respond. To which my response is, TOO BAD.
But -- we all remember from high school civics class the one student who would always raise his or her hand and say, "Well, as an African-American/Hispanic/Asian/woman/Jew/whatever, my feeling is THIS." And we ALL grew to loathe that person, not because of his or her racial or ethnic identity, but because she was so goddamn full of herself.
So: I don't care who you like to have sex with. But if you are posting endless gay-identity items, I can't stop you, and a little of that adds to the diversity of our board, but a lot of it is really annoying. And my badge of enlightenment is that I can find a member of any minority equally asinine.
NO DISCUSSION.
