The 2CD collection anniversary edition of Bond has both. Stunning performances.

Try: http://jwfan.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3429 Note that, as the song doesn't actually appear in the film, I place Shirley Bassey's version right at the beginning as an overture of sorts. EDIT: Hah! Simul-post! Sadly, though, the preceding post is, with respect, useless. The linked page doesn't tell you how to separate the suites, and the link it provides is broken. The link should be: http://www.johnbarry.org.uk/expanded.php However, if you want a comprehensive (nay, exhaustive) look at sequencing all the Bond CDs, try the link I've provided.

The Dionne Warwick version was intended to be the main title and even syncs with the movie. You can even hear it against the picture on one of the commentary tracks on the DVD. Neil

I goofed on the Thunderball sequencing written 6 years ago. The portion of "The Bomb" that I say to cut off and move to the end (for the aquatroopers parachuting out of the plane) is tracked in that sequence. It's unused in its intended position and was meant to underscore the Vulcan landing in the ocean, which means it shouldn't be cut off of "The Bomb" at all. Neil

Is it just my ears, or does Dame Shirley seem to be having too much fun with Mr KKBB? Once you show how ridiculous the average Bond song lyrics are by orally winking at the audience, you might as well forget it. For that reason, I much prefer the Warwick version. TG Same here. To my ears the Bassey version seems to have been intended as an end title; on the 30th Anniversary Collection there's an orchestral sign-off at the end of the piece that hints of a "James Bond Will Return In 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'" notice, which was visually edited out of the film (there's a visual fade-out on the Monty Norman credit on all prints). First prints of the film reverted to the John Barry instrumental Thunderball chords for the end of the film, later changed to a reprise of the Dr. No James Bond Theme. An awkward musical ending to the first Bond widescreen epic. Dr. No originally ended with a very dated and embarrassingly 1950s-like Monty Norman flourish, replaced on all DVD issue's with a sudden reprise of the James Theme over a credit crawl that never appeared in the original prints. Not even Jon Burlingame seems to have noted that in his excellent Bond music book.

Here's where my memory may be playing tricks with me: Is the original ending on Roland Shaw's album? And was the original ending played on ABC? On any of the DVDs or laserdiscs? I'd swear that I saw that ending without the awkward (but common) musical edit.

The Bassey version is too short for the front titles, but Jon's book goes into it all.

I don't think that ending was on the Shaw albums. There are prints out there with the original ending. I've seen it both ways.
