Okay, now that I have your attention, I am really hoping that this will see the light of day. Back in 2002 an expanded version of this music was released. Unfortunately, due to the limitation of CDs (80 minutes max), there is still a great deal of music missing.

I am begging FSM that a new (limited?) 2 disc version can be produced.

How many here would love to hear the music to:

Fiona's Wild Ride (when the deadly SPECTRE assassin takes OO7 for a moonlit ride at 90 MPH)

or

Bond Breaks the News to Domino (when OO7 reveals the fate of Domino's brother)

There is undoubtly more music and I would forever be in FSM debt if they were able to pull this off.

You want to take the best* JB007 soundtrack ...

... and extend it?

Count me in!

I've lost track of the number of times I've bought this score, or themes from it, over (nearly) 38 years. I don't suppose another purchase (for an extra few minutes' music) will stretch the overdraft too far.

* okay: joint best (with OHMSS).

It is an iconic soundtrack - and a worthy recipient fully deserving the full fsm deluxe treatment.

Ooops, misread title. This is the one with the best underwater sequence music ever - as discussed on previous thread!

Each and every unreleased Bond score music from 1963 to 1987 must be released.

I totaly agree, unfortunately some are harder to get then others. However, Lukas worked on the Thunderball expanded version and was forced to leave some of the music off due to the CD limitations. The unreleased music is still available and can be released if MGM wants it to happen.

I just acquired the expanded release not long ago and am thrilled to finally have the exciting finale music on the Disco Volante. I would support any and all expanded incarnations of one of Bond's/Barry's finest.

Bond Breaks the News to Domino (when OO7 reveals the fate of Domino's brother)

That cue has been on my want list for years...

An FSM-style (or Retrograde) Bond series would be a dream, obviously.

I wonder what the specific legal/business hurdles are.

Instead of trying to get a 2 CD set produced, maybe FSM could license just the cues that are missing from the 2003 CD and remaster them as high-quality legal downloads. Then we could assemble the super-expanded, complete score ourselves, by combining the new downloaded cues with the existing CD at home.

It would be much less risky an investment from FSM and EMI's point of view, and therefore more feasible to actually get it done.

Wouldn't that bother the pressed-CD purists?

Yes, but we have a magnificent pressed CD already. Something's got to give if you want to re-expand a title whose sales for the first expansion disappointed EMI, if I recall.

Did they really? I know Bond doesn't have the Trekkie "we'll buy anything" mentality attached to it, but it's a popular franchise.

Online expansion would be an incredible idea, I hope EMI can consider it.

I know Bond doesn't have the Trekkie "we'll buy anything" mentality attached to it, but it's a popular franchise.

But popularity of the Bond franchise does not translate into popularity of score albums, and even more so of expanded scores for albums that have been around a long time. Neither does that make a "Star Trek" soundtrack a sure seller. Can these brand names help goose some sales? Sure. But that does not necessarily translate into success.

After so many years, I still meet people who don't even know about the existence of the remastered albums and clutch to their 12-track releases. But I can think of hundreds of more desireable items at the moment...

So can I

But barring those other items, the rest of THUNDERBALL would be nice.

How about just a CD of odds and ends that couldn't make it on the previous CDs? Throw in about 10 minutes of underscore from Dr. No, the bits that didn't make the cut on the expanded Thunderball, missing tracks from Goldfinger and FRWL...Maybe someday when they find the tapes for Moonraker.

There are no tapes for the missing music from DR. NO, FRWL or GOLDFINGER.

As for an expanded THUNDERBALL . . . don't hold your breath. I'd say the odds of it happening are slim to none.

I agree, and that's why I suggested making the remaining cues available as downloads that FSM could sell online.

What about i-Tunes? - like what they did with Casino Royale?
Couldn't they license additional tracks?

And while i'm at it,
i did my own version (i'm sure as many did) back in 2005 from the xpanded cd and the 5. 1 track from the special edition dvd (without the center channel there's only faint dialogue and few fx) and then a few bits of dialogue for the narrative and it runs for about 107 minutes...
