A fine popular actor, but sometimes under used in popular or classic films like, Zulu, Battle of Britain, Mona Lisa, Jaws the Revenge, Final Orders. Etc. That said, The ipcress Files, Alfie, Get Carter, Educating Rita, The Fourth Protocol & many more were UK classics, Caine was at his best as a lead actor, some other films were poorly scripted too him especially US movies.

Caine did do some bum films Pulp, etc and seemed to choose erratically. That said he then moved to america and became an even bigger star. Dressed to kill, etc. Problem was, like terence stamp, he has fantastic delivery, and he also that fabulous rhythm of talking in clumps of two words and three four or five words - alternate short and long bursts, which is the impression everyone does. But he went to america and his whole accent became some mid-atlantic hotchpotch. Almost like he was trying to be something he wasnt. For me he lost his cool. But what id give for 5 more Get Carters and couple more Palmers in his prime ! Very-funny Caine was an even bigger star in America! Who's side are you batting for/on. If Caine did some "BUMPULP" films in his prime they were in the US not England, its incomparable, in movies, only salary. Caine didn't need to prove America, the films he already starred in were produced & directed by the UK, & by far huge compared to any-think achieved/starred in the US, the CV/CAREER is laughable when analysed. Caine shone in America when the movies were co produced UK/US, otherwise its near pulp, yes, his career took a dip, lost some "cool" out there maybe.
