Anyway:
In the late 1980´s Rachel Portman scored Jim Hensons exciting fairy tale adaptation series THE STORYTELLER starring John Hurt as the title character.
I always loved this show and adored it´s music. The beautiful main theme and the gorgeous often woodwind driven scores of the nine 20-minute episodes greatly enhance the series fantastic and sometimes obscure mood.
I always wondered why this wonderful music didn´t get a CD release.
It´s good to know, that other people share my desire to see Rachel Portmans music on the silver disc.
Since the old thread was opened on January 2007 I wonder if there were any new developments in the meantime. Someone mentioned, that LaLa-Land worked on a release but it never happened.
I know nothing about this project, but I like Rachel Portman and know that a Henson production would have the scope for a glorious score, so count me in for a copy as well!

Or maybe he just wants a copy of Jerrald's amazing-looking avatar in a higher resolution.
Any release of Portman's music for STORYTELLER would indeed be MOST welcome. She conjures up a marvelously enchanting world, and it would be lovely to hear outside the series.
Well, even if there would be a pirate copy of THE STORYTELLER I wouldn´t take it.
It´s indeed the real thing I want to hold in my hands! The artwork and booklet of such an authorized release could really be amazing.
I´m waiting literally for 10- 15 years now for this to be released, so it won´t be to difficult to wait UNTIL X-MAS!!!!!!????? :-D That would be great!!! Is this true!?
Hey wedge, call me an amateur, but I´m not sure how to reach you on msn or takisjoh. :-(
But since I did the drawing of my avatar myself, there´s no (legal) problem posting it here on the board in higher resolution. How can I upload images here?
Well, each day I learn something new! Thanks Wedge! :-)
I just watched an episode of THE STORYTELLER called "The Luck Child". That´s one of my favorites of the show. The music is so nice. It´s dark and obscure but never depressive. It also can be light and warm but it´s never corny or mushy.
As far as I remember there´s always a new musical theme or motif in each of the nine episodes. And since Ms. Portman used many solo instruments (mostly woodwinds) the rather small size of the orchestra does not derogate the overall experience at all.
