In the action-thriller Public Enemies, acclaimed filmmaker Michael Mann directs Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Academy Award® winner Marion Cotillard in the story of legendary Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger (Depp) -- the charismatic bank robber whose lightning raids made him the number one target of J. Edgar Hoover's fledgling FBI and its top agent, Melvin Purvis (Bale), and a folk hero to much of the downtrodden public. Soundtrack includes six tracks by Academy and Golden Globe Award winning composer Elliot Goldenthal and 8 interpolations of blues, jazz and standards. Elliot Goldenthal's work includes such film scores as Aliens 3, Batman Forever and the Academy Award winning Frida. Highlight of the soundtrack is a a newly recorded version of the standard "Bye, Bye, Blackbird" sung by the incomparable Diana Krall. Other interpolations are by contemporary bluesman Otis Taylor. 1. Ten Million Slaves - Otis Taylor 2. Chicago Shake - The Bruce Fowler Big Band 3. Drive To Bohemia - Elliot Goldenthal 4. Love Me or Leave Me - Billie Holiday 5. Billie's Arrest - Elliot Goldenthal 6. Am I Blue? - Billie Holiday 7. Love In The Dunes - Elliot Goldenthal 8. Bye Bye Blackbird - Diana Krall 9. Phone Call To Billie - Elliot Goldenthal 10. Nasty Letter - Otis Taylor 11. Plane To Chicago - Elliot Goldenthal 12. O Guide Me Thou Great Jehova - Indian Bottom Association, Old Regular Baptists 13. Gold Coast Restaurant - Elliot Goldenthal 14. Excellent. Finally something to be hyped up for. Gosh, when was the last time Goldenthal worked on a A list project like this? Heck, I don't care, I'm just glad he did not get chucked from the project and replaced by.....er........someone else.

c'mon people! you know there is a good chance, a very good chance. that track titles will give away the plot. i made a conscious effort not to read ANYTHING about the REVENGE OF THE SITH soundtrack- released weeks before the film opened- as to avoid spoilers. Take heed.

Um, not sure if you're joking or not but I thought it was common knowledge that Dillinger was killed. Not that common, I'd have thought, at least outside the USA. He's not a globally mythical figure like, say, Capone.

Official site launched: http://www.publicenemies.net/ Is that a clip from the score I hear in the background? I hope it's not..! For me, that clip sounds like an uninspired take on the Hans Zimmer romance-minimalism-pathos thing. No, no, this can't be "JD Dies", hu? (New Goldenthal score. Film music lost me, but here I'm back the most thrilled.) I hate to dissapoint you, but it Is. Nothing really special about it. I've seen the conductor's score and boy, I hate the director. Mann always cut the best parts of the score and asks the composer to revise it and make it even worse. I can say for sure, the very first time Goldenthal writes his scores are always the best, untill the director asks him to alter it. Michael Mann is just not the right type (as a director) for him. And what the hell Depp is doing in that film? Johnny Depp as J.Dillinger? c'mon...give me a break. It's so annoying when the directors are trying to hire one of those HOT priviliged actors for their movies. Imagine Johnny Depp playing Diego Rivera and Anjelina Jolie playing Frida in "FRIDA". They would just fuck up the whole picture. Ok, its going to be a little off-top here...finished.
