I agree. I love Elfman's score to the first Hulk film, but when I finally got around to seeing The Incredible Hulk on DVD a few months ago (I missed it in the theaters when my wife and I were moving), I was surprised at how good the score was. Then a couple of weeks ago, my wife got me the complete score from Amazon as an anniversary gift, and I've listened to it quite a few times. Personally, I like the pitch-bent cellos mingling with the organ, and I think the score works very well in the film. (And it's got actual themes that recur and are developed -- what a concept in modern film scoring!) Had I picked this up last year, it would've been in my Top 5 scores of 2008. I don't know why people are so down on Craig Armstrong (this is the first score of his I've heard), but I love his music for the Hulk. I too feel this is one amazing score and while the presentation might be over kill for some, it's two disc and over two hours of music for 16.99. Now, considering that there will never be a need for another released [you could argue a PRESSED CD release] I think it is amazing that we get a complete C&C score done right the first time. And yes, listening to the whole thing is exhausting but one disc a day was easy and to hear themes mature and all the wonderful various was just great. Highly Recommended!

*Should anyone be interested, I have my own used (but in Excellent+ condition) Amazon.com 2x CD/r edition of Armstrong's "HULK" up for auction on ebay at the moment. See here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220768919074 (trust it's ok to publicise this here, with the direct connection to the thread topic - if not, let me know and I will blank out this response no problem). Bidding started at 99p to ensure a sale - and the last time I checked it was still only £ 1.20 or so (International bids are welcome providing you have PayPal). Thanks for looking (note: There are 10 people "Watching" this item at the moment according to the stats on "My Ebay") -John

Although you wouldn't think it from most of the comments above (some of whom haven't seen or heard it), I think this score is one of the best Marvel efforts we've had. I like Craig Armstrong's music anyway, but not to a fault. This is great blockbuster music though. The pitch bend effect is great for me. The Love Theme (a typical, but still gorgeous CA composition) is sweet and lovely, with the required hint of sadness. The kinetic fight and battle music is exciting and pulsating, with the orchestra really sounding FRONT and CENTRE! It's balls to the wall stuff at times, but never sounding phoned in/droned in. Some parts of it recall his magnificent score to VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN. Yes, at nearly 2 hours, it's overlong, but YOU get the chance to edit it into a perfect programme. For the record, mine is CD1 = 1, 2, 4, 8, 11, 15, 18, 19, - CD2 = 1, 2, 4, 10, 13, 15, 17, 18, 19, 22, 23. This one is in my Top 5 scores by Craig Armstrong. Great stuff.

It speaks volumes that despite its length, I enjoy every moment of it. I don't think I dislike any of Armstrong's score, such an underused composer in the Marvel Universe. Would be great to see him write some more superhero/action scores.

I watched this the other day and it's not a bad film and the music really worked well in it.

Agreed this is a good score and Armstrong an excellent composer, but two words: Ant-Man. Yavar
