I also recommend The Scarlet Coat (1955) directed by Sturges and starring Cornell Wilde, Anne Francis, George Sanders.

A whole lot of waffle without naming my favourite Sturges picture?!
That transgression deserves a little visit from the deadly duo

They'll have you take a swim.

Has the thought of it already have you reach for the bottle?

Time to make an exit. Just don't stumble over the evidence.

This flick was a late 60s commercial 'failure' that truly perplexed Mr. Sturges as to why it wasn't received better.

Whilst not up thar with his other classics,

it boasts not only a superlative Jerry Gee score nothing short of thrilling,

but still stands as an impressive, no-nonsense and absorbing take on the tricky tightrope of Truth
betwixt legendary fact, factual legend or what's in between both.

Do check it out, won'tcha? smile

Utterly fascinating snippet from a Belgium interview Mr. Sturges did at the time of
“The Great Escape”’s release – would LUVVVVVVVV to track-down [where’s Robert Culp?!? wink ]
and scope the original in its entirety.

It won't reproduce here for some reason so beam over to YouTube for it:
