I said this in 2013:

My favourite composition of his is the MACGYVER theme. I also like LAST OF THE MOHICANS, GETTYSBURG, TALL TALE and DRAGONHEART.

Let me now add GHOSTBUSTERS II, DAYLIGHT, THE QUEST and SIX DAYS, SEVEN NIGHTS 11 years later.

DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMAN is an underrated little gem, with a beautiful Love Theme and a ridiculously catchy calypso style Main Theme.
He was THE King of Trailer music in the 90s thanks to those soaring anthems he created for his films (COME SEE THE PARADISE, DRAGON TBLS, KINDERGARTEN COP).

As a result of this chat I pulled out his 10 Commandments. And while it isn't Elmer or Ennio by any stretch, it was still very enjoyable. Some catchy tunes were therein.

Sony’s long-awaited and even longer-requested release of “Ghostbusters II” was such a huge letdown. With muddy sound quality, alternate takes, suites of various cues that are bafflingly thrown together on a single track, and a significant amount of still missing music, it was the 2021 release I was most looking forward to and the one which disappointed me the most.

Didn’t Edelman say in an interview that he too was perplexed on why Sony released the score how they did since they had all the tapes in their possession and could’ve released it in complete form?

Wish LLL or Intrada could get their hands on this one and do it the right way.

I enjoyed Edelman's scores for Dragonheart and Dragon and his comedy scores for Kindergarten Cop and While You Were Sleeping. I also think his Angels in the Outfield score (the main theme) is good. I always liked this arrangement with an orchestra. It shows how better the score could have sounded with a bit more budget and a full ensemble.

I am glad to see Randy Edelman getting some love. He is one of my favorites. I know it isn't going to be popular with a lot of you around here but I enjoy his music as much as I do Barry and Poledouris depending on who I am in the mood to listen too. We all know what they say about opinions right ? The man knows how to write a melody in his film music and also on his solo albums. He is also a good singer. My favorites ? I would say it depends on what day it is as I love all his stuff and as far as I know I have everything that is legitimate. He can do action, comedy or pull at your heartstrings. Lately I have been listening to The Quest, XXX, Shanghai Noon & Shanghai Knights and For Richer or Poorer. The cue "Caroline" from For Richer or Poorer is simply beautiful ! Give it a listen ! All of his solo work is also great with "On Time" being his best IMHO.

As I recall, he said Sony could only find half the music, which is why he re-recorded some theme suites for the album.

So many great scores! I'm not familiar with some of these. I'll have to check them out.

(with COME SEE THE PARADISE being an inferior score with a great theme),

I blame it his having to incorporate the music Alan Parker's sons' contributed... ("Kawamura Family Theme").
