ScoreDude: That's a hideously old branch, isn't it? I thought the SDSU branch was old...but NO! NP beats it hands down! At least they seem to be TRYING to revitalize University Ave. So, who knows? Yes, I lived in SD for twelve years and frankly, I'm glad I'm out of there. It's gotten way too crowded way too quickly.
Hope you continue to enjoy the music, Tom. Take care!
It is an extremely old branch Joe and considering the density and age of the area well used. Its on North Park Way and Grim a block from the very old library too! Of course I'm getting old too! The North Park Theater makeover is gorgeous. If you go west on University past Park the Hillcrest changeover is now a happening area but east of Park to the 805 is a project. And of course east of 805 is pretty dangerous at night. If you venture down someday again we'll have a meal together.
We just received this CD today, a Christmas gift from a friend, and listened to it twice in a row earlier this evening. What a great score, brimming with delightful themes and sumptuous grooves. The artwork is retro-tastic, and the liner notes informative and entertaining. I especially enjoyed the autobiographical anecdotes, which really added a personal touch to what must've been a true labor of love. We'll be enjoying this for years to come. Matter of fact, I'm going to play it again right now.

Finally got my copy a week ago from BSX. What a delightful score. I too played it through twice before bringing it in from the car to listen to in the house. Congrats and thanks to Bruce for this release.
a really great release , with spectacular sound. every collector whose wallet permits , should own it. thanks to bruce and all concerned with bringing this disc to light . a gem.
This score is one of the six that are currrently in my car cd player. A delightful disc. Thank you so much, Bruce, for giving this wonderful gift of music!
I have not yet acquired this album, but based on all the glowing praise, it is clear that I must do so, and so I'll extend a hearty thanks in advance for releasing it! I'm sure I'll gush like everybody else upon the moment that I first listen to the score.
I should say this is a very different score than Nascimbene usually did. It is much more light and loungy. Once you get that, it is fantastic. Nascimbene, the innovator who used a typewriter in his score to ROMA ORE 11 in 1952, and did all those experimental electronic sounds on BARRABAS and treated us to how he did it on the LP itself, shows his versatility and that he could also make a score fun!
Those who missed getting a copy of the Kritzerland SCENT OF MYSTERY CD will have a second chance to snag one, if you buy a copy of the forthcoming Blu-ray release of HOLIDAY IN SPAIN, which was the re-edited version of the film. The package has a commentary that includes Bruce Kimmel, and also includes a bonus stereo music audio CD of Mario Nascimbene's score.
