I'm thinking of halfway through Elegy for Dunkirk, when the soldiers start singing. It always breaks my heart when they come in like that. But does anyone know the name of that song? I've looked long and hard, but I couldn't find any info.
I was getting very teary-eyed during this scene. The way it so tragically depicts the brutality of war, contrasted against the beauty and innocence of that hymn - and the turmoil and despair of Robbie's heart at witnessing it all - was overwhelming.
I haven't seen that well-rated "There Will Be Blood," but I would say this is my favorite film of '07.
Good lord Pipolo, thank you very much! You're right, it was an amazing scene, and a perfect film. It's very nice to have that page in my bookmarks. Thank you very very much.
I was about to ask this question (it's not noted in the booklet) but found my answer here. I wonder if it was the emotional power of this piece that nabbed him the Oscar for best score?
