A short piece in The Gay Porn Times (now there's a WARNING for 'ya!) about a new scent in a bottle. 'IT DOES NOT DISTURB THE ODOR OF MEN'. It sounds intriguing, but there are some drawbacks (price/availability/must be over 18)!? Gimmicky. However, the article mentions some store or, chain of stores in The U.K named Harvey Nichols. What's up with Harvey Nichols as people making comments in the article really seem to HATE this store?

Hum. I have no idea what "smelly Marys" are (or "smelly Mary's" as they put it) but can only assume they mean well-to-do women of a certain age who go in there to spend their husbands' hard-earned cash on anti-aging slap.
Nobody really hates Harvey Nicks - rather they wish they had the money to go in there. Leeds won bragging rights from having a branch open up (the first outside London, I think) about eight years ago - followed now by Manchester. I've always found the staff very pleasant, but I go in wearing a suit on the odd occasion that I do go in, and they clearly recognise class when they see it
I saw the film at the Haugesund film festival here in Norway back in August. To be perfectly honest, I was a bit disappointed. The visual look is impressive, and they've done what they've can to create a sort of "epic" journey for the artist, but it comes off as rather sloggish and drawn-out. The film is too long, and the characters aren't rounded enough to identify with. But it's not a bad movie either; it's received plenty of acclaim already.
But at least I got to know a bit of what Tom of Finland was about, as I was only familiar with him by name before.

'TOM OF FINLAND' is Finland's entry for the upcoming Academy Awards Race, and will represent The Country as it's entry for 'BEST FOREIGN FILM'. That being said, your claim that 'the characters aren't rounded enough to identify with', seems a fair statement, for a Norwegian I suppose. But since the film is about the World Famous (well,now), Gay Artist who's hounded by The Nazis......WHO, Thor of Norway, did you wish to identify with?
I don't really care about a character's particular circumstance that much. That's not the most important thing for me when I watch a movie. I'm more interested in how they speak to me on a personal level WITHIN that circumstance. In this film, I felt that most characters -- especially the title character -- was a bit too distant. And they tried to squeeze too much drama out of situations that didn't really have it.
In terms of gay-themed movies, I have far higher expectations for Luca Guadagnino's CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, which my colleagues have already hailed as the best film of the year. And also the Icelandic film HJARTASTEINN, which I will be seeing this weekend.

Harvey Nichols is a high-end department store.
I highly recommend the 'The Pats & Eddy AbFab/Harvey Nicks Experience'(patent pending): Have lunch in the dining room and get snockered on champagne and whiskey, then go shopping. 2nd best time I had on my honeymoon.
