I just finished Cybill Shepherd’s memoir “Cybill Disobedience." Some fun quotes.

****
“Orson ate my leftovers off the plate in four-star restaurants, especially if he had insisted on ordering something strange and previously unknown to me such as tripe … or whitebait… At home he would throw fits if we ran out of his favorite food.

‘WHO ATE THE LAST FUDGSICLE?’ Orson would bellow. Everyone knew that he’d eaten it, but we were too polite to say so. ‘That’s just balls,” he’d yell in a voice that sounded like God chastising Eve for eating that apple. “

******

This also cracked me up. She’s trying to get to her singing engagement at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and they’re stuck in traffic and very, very late. They finally get off the freeway and immediately get rear-ended by a station wagon.

*****
“7:14 p.m. – I have no choice. Leaving my driver, Tom, to take care of that situation, I take off running, dragging behind me a rolling suitcase filled with my costume, makeup, and sheet music. I’m wearing a black leather cap, black high-tops, black jeans, and a bodywear top that I hadn’t exactly planned on publicly displaying in an area of town where this kind of cleavage can either get you arrested or hired. Heading west towards Mann’s Chinese Theater, a greasy-looking wino calls out ‘C’mon baby, gimme some of that!’ Without breaking stride, I holler back, ‘Normally I would, but right now I can’t.’”

****

And finally, I couldn’t resist repeating this about Ryan O’Neal and Peter Bogdanovich.

******
“Ryan often greeted Peter by kissing him on the lips and grabbing him by the balls,….”

What a great title- I'll have to check this out. I really enjoyed her portrayal of Martha Stewart in the Big House.

One of the few TV movies I watched recently. They seemed to make a big deal of showing Cybill as Martha from behind with big, lumpy hips - probably since MS is rarely seen in any photo with her waist showing.

One person said she got the voice right, imitating Stewart's "crocodilian purr."

That IS a great title. (My favorite remains Sandra Tsing Lohs' book on life in L.A., DEPTH TAKES A HOLIDAY.)
