Today is a day I've been revisiting Silvestri scores I haven't listened to in awhile and this one is now in rotation. I really love his main themes for the film (one of which I forgot is based on the song included), the propulsive action beats and then the mysterious "seduction" music. Sometimes with modern Silvestri you get a lot of sound and fury but no strong melodic focus (i.e. his GI JOE score), but I think this one ranks as a great effort of his from the last 10 years or so.
I just saw this movie on Imax 3-D- its amazing looking. everything looks as though its floating right off the screen- in front of you- worth the $15 bucks.
Warner has put out a 3D blu-ray of Beowulf easily had via the Euro Amazons; it's region A compatible, looks and sounds great, with excellent 3D. I wouldn't expect a release from Paramount--the US distributor--for the waning 3D market in the US.
The Blu only features the theatrical cut, which I suspect is the only version to have been rendered in 3D. I understand the differences between the theatrical and director's cut are minimal, and the added dimension makes a compromise here a no-brainer.
