Intrada mentiones that some tracks of LaLaLand`s BAD BOYS are actually in mono ?

Does anyone know how many tracks are not in stereo and why that is ?

That is worrying. I seem to remember the naughty boot CD had similar problems. Shame that the official release is no better. The score was isolated on DVD, I can't remember if that had the same issue.

Folks,

These are the final approved master mixes that were delivered to SONY by the composer in 1995, Mr. Mancina also reviewed and approved the current album master before it went to production and signed off on it.

Some of the cues are quite flat and sound mono, but that's what he delivered and they used up using in the final version of the film.

The score sounded great. Sure, some cues were in mono, but I figured that it must have been a side effect of the recording technology at the time. Heck, even the 90 piece orchestra sounded like samples.

I have the special edition BB dvd and the isolated score suffered from the uneven sound mix that went accompanied with the movie. It wasn't even worth it to rip to mp3.

You expect source problems with old scores but not with a score that was recorded in the 90s! This is poor and at the very least buyers should have been warned about the quality of the source.

As Ford said, this album presented what was used in the movie. There weren't anything officially wrong with the source. So if the movie score had mono audio mix for some of the cues, then we got the same in our album.

Well the isolated score on the special edition DVD IS in stereo, so I don't understand why some of the tracks are in mono on this one. I've listened some of the cues from the DVD and compared them to the ones on this soundtrack, you can definitely hear the difference. The whole score is in stereo on the DVD! Basically this release is same as the bootleg with somewhat better sound quality. Both, the bootleg and this release have the same mono & stereo tracks.

After 12 years they finally release this excellent score and they(?) screw it up. Some seem to be happy with this one but I'm not. Very very disappointing release!

If CAPTAIN KRONOS: VAMPIRE HUNTER had been so fortunate as to have had just some cues in stereo, I would have been just as ecstatic with the release as I am with it being completely in (good sounding) mono.

I guess what I'm trying to say in a circuitous fashion is that I'm happy with what I can get.

As I stated above you expect problems with old scores but not with something like this. Clearly a good source exists as used on the DVD, so why wasn't it used here? Not good.

Well the isolated score on the special edition DVD IS in stereo!

Nope, what you are hearing amounts to just FAKE STEREO on those cues that are rather flate just by adding some verb and EQ..

We did the same thing and we were surprised as well.

Also, the masters we used were the ones that were delivered to SONY for dubbing into the film.

These mixes are EXACTLY what is in the film itself.

In addition, I also reviewed some other scores from this period by Mr. Mancina like MAN OF THE HOUSE and the same sort of issue comes up as well.

And lastly, Mr. Mancina listened to this album and we asked him if these were the final mixes and he told us YES and approved it.

Screw the naysayers, Ford. It amazes me that people can always find something to complain about even when someone goes to great lengths to present a sought-after product that they should be thankful to have at all.

I just listened to the album last night and it's EXCELLENT. I love every bit of it, it sounds great, and it's a finely produced album. Thanks for your great work on it!

Clearly a good source exists as used on the DVD, so why wasn't it used here? Not good.

FYI, had the best source, the DAT masters delivered by the composer to SONY with his final approved mixes.

I have no issues with the mono sound. It makes no difference to me; I'm just glad to have the score.

I'm so caught up in the music that I don't even register the mono sound - the music sounds full bodied to me.
