Isn't this movie about scientise trying to prevent the sun from going supernova?

Isn't there a CD?

I can't remember anything about the music! The film itself was a replay of Event Horizon and Supernova, then Doctor Who got in on the act and made an episode which was almost the same as Sunshine! For the record I hated Sunshine (and sent the Supernova DVD to a charity shop!)

Was it ever put on iTunes at all? Nope. I've been checking every day or two since the original post. I loved the film and really want to get a soundtrack album, though I grow less and less hopeful with each week, especially since the studio so clearly dumped the film.

I saw the film this weekend and was completely absorbed. One of the most satisfying films I've seen all year. The music was fantastic. Several nods to Brian Eno's "An Ending (Desent)", wrapped up in some really cool experimental sounds. Beautiful!

John Murphy is one of the few new composers whose work has consistently excited me. Millions, Miami Vice, 28 Days Later & 28 Weeks Later were all top notch. I'll have to get his Basic Instinct 2 score sometime, and get over my disbelief that they actually made that film.

I agree. The characters could have been fleshed out a little more....I could easily have sat through an extra hour detailing their lives on this perilous mission. Gripping!

I find it hard to give a lot of credit on MIAMI VICE as there were a lot of cooks in the kitchen on that film. True. I haven't seen the film, I just enjoyed the Murphy cuts on the album.

What I've been able to read about this movie is most intriguing. I hope I get a chance to see it... It's a love it or hate it film. I fall in the first camp. I think the first two acts are genius, some of the most visually audacious filmmaking in recent memory, while the third act is wildly uneven. Still, it's miles beyond the other bilge being churned into theaters each week.

It's a love it or hate it film. I fall in the first camp. No, it isn't. Check the reviews. Most reviewers don't love it, nor hate it. Um. I was referring to audience reaction. Those who thought they would get a schlocky genre action film hated it, while those expecting a more cerebral visual extravaganza loved it. As for the reviews, I have in fact read a great many of them. They're wildly mixed, though Empire, the British movie magazine, which is one of the few I really trust, gave it a rave and this month's Film Comment also has an enormously positive review. I'd suggest you read some of the imdb comments as well. Though many of them are written by people who border on illiterate, looking over a large number of them for a given film can give you a good idea of what at least the most vocal audience members, on either extreme, think of a film. Going back to the score, what a shame it never materialized. It was enormously effective, especially in the big "jump" that Cillian Murphy has to make late in the film, between the two ships. That was just breathtaking stuff.
