He's another one of my favorite directors. I love all the Mad Max movies. I think his segment in Twilight Zone: The Movie was the best. I haven't seen Happy Feet yet though. That's quite a range, Mad Max to Happy Feet. What do you guys think of him?

Adored Babe: Pig in the City; Happy Feet was execrable.

My favorite director is between Miller, Spielberg and Cameron. Right now it's probably Miller. I can't wait for FURY ROAD, great title too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. I love most of Miller's films. Babe: Pig In The City was a huge bomb, but I thought it was charming and eccentric.

Happy Feet just bugged the heck out of me, like the central conceit of the main character tap dancing on snow.

Hey guys, I have an interesting story. The other day at work I was bagging for a woman from Australia, and told her some of my favorite movies, the MAD MAX movies, were made in Australia. She then told me she went to school with Byron Kennedy, George Miller's filmaking partner. What a small world.

Still waiting for FURY ROAD, I think it starts shooting in January! Miller's HAPPY FEET TWO comes out in November however. Also can't wait for THUNDERDOME on Blu-ray.

It's really only the MAD MAXes that I've REALLY liked, but they are smokin' good!

I hate the "Mad Max" rubbish with a vengeance and am not appreciative of the rest of the films named.

He was a doctor before directing films. He made a little seen film called LORENZO'S OIL about a couple trying to find a cure for their son's disease. Check it out.

Because it was a series of sadistic and destructive demolition derby exploitism. There are many other series that fall in that category as well but this one was just cheap and ugly and with a lot of vehicle stunts (and I hate vehicle stunts). It also struck a chord with many a talentless copy cat wannabe director, so for many decades we got films that all had that cheap and ugly look. Now I know that's not the original's fault but it is one of the reasons I wish this series had never happened.
As for the other titles; I just don't like them. If I had named one film, it might have been accepted apparently as "no need to motivate, I accept your choice" kind of thing. I don't hate them as I do with the Tex Mex thing but I just don't care for them, and will never watch them out of my own choice.

Well, to each their own. But I must admit I've never met anyone who HATES vehicle stunts! That's a first.

Strange, this film has been coming up a lot lately. I love The Road Warrior for almost the exact opposite reasons Disco Stu hates it. For a film set in such an ugly world, Miller manages to show us so much beauty in the chase. Watching the cars (and people some time) fly through the air is something to behold. It's what truly sets Max apart from his adopted cousins in the genre. Many of the stunts are performed much like a heavy metal opera. Brian Mays score plays to this perfectly with a cacophony of noise and beauty.

The Road Warrior always has been, and always will be a top 20 film for me. And remains #1 in it's genre.

Agreed Storyteller, although THE ROAD came pretty darn close, IMO.

I'm sure there are two George Millers. The Australian one who did the MAD MAX movies and the other one who did that bit of THE TWILIGHT ZONE film, amongst other things.

Just checked. There ARE two George Millers, but they're not the George Millers I was thinking about!

Hi Graham! The MAD MAX Miller did to the TWILIGHT ZONE bit. The other George Miller director did ZEUS AND ROXANNE, THE NEVERENDING STORY 2 among others. Like I've said before, the MAD MAX Miller is one of my favorite directors.
