I have been here for over 40 years in America, The Death of John and Bobby Kennedy, and Martin Luther King, the Riots in LA, and so on. BUT I could never would think that not one, not two, but three Airline Jets would hit their target. I thought I was seeing Irwin Allens' The Towering Inferno, with ID4 mixed in!!! It was so unreal. How could this happen to America? The Day the Earth Stood Still is in place today, September 11, 2001. I saw men and women jumping from the 90th floor of the World Trade Buildings, to their deaths. I saw buildings collapse. I saw chaos and panic. We got caught with our britches down!!! BUT whomever cause this mass destruction and death will die. It is time for America to how forceful our reply should be. Not with conventional weapons!! Yes, It is time for The United States to take out whoever did this fuck'd up act to die!!! I really believe this will happen. It is what Israel should of done way back when in the Gulf War!! It is what we should do know!! If it takes blowing the fuck out of several countries, so be it. A EYE FOR A EYE!!! This is reality!! We cannot pussyfoot on this subject!! Mass loss of live for Mass loss of live!

They showed that? I heard about it but never saw it (I don't think I'd want to anyway). I guess I didn't see it because I was watching the more restrained Fox News Channel.

I have learned more details of what my cousin went through this morning and the fact that he is alive is nothing short of miraculous. His office was on the 82nd floor of the North Tower, literally just several floors below where the first plane struck. It was a miracle enough that he was not killed in the explosion but he was trapped briefly and we were convinced he was dead. Then we discovered that he was able to get out by the stairs and made it out of the North Tower (which was second to collapse) only minutes before it fell. Most of his business colleagues and friends are likely dead.I still find myself thinking tomorrow I will wake up and find out this never happened.

I know what you mean. It seems so unreal. I (somehow) forget about while on the computer, then return to the living room downstairs and see the footage on TV and say to myself, "God, it really happened."I'm glad to hear your cousin made it. Even more miraculous was that people from the 92nd(!!) floor were able to get out. That's amazing. BUT I really believe that, America will strike with great force, and it will not be conventional bombs! Thousand and thousands of lives were fucking destroyed by whomever.America will find this scum, and destroy this scum and if your country is hiding this scum, you will die too!!! That is the way it should be. This is not someone coming to the United States and slapping you in the face. NO!! This someone coming to our United States and fucking us! We will not pussyfoot this situation. I want the United States to stand together and drop those non-conventional bombs on every fucking country out there that hides scums of the earth! Responding with force is the only way to handle these heartless bastards. Deal with those reponsible fiercely (and on live television if possible), and you'll be sending a message to other would-be terrorists that things like this are not tolerated and will be dealt with in such ways. By all means hunt down those responsible. But samanthasmom (and others elsewhere) seems to be advocating a mass bombing campaign with "non-conventional weapons" (i.e. nukes) ... and that strikes me as a somewhat unreasonable response to this atrocity.

Very nice. I seriously doubt that Austria is hiding anyone of those responsible. But if somebody here in Austria happens to be connected with it, why should I die?? Of course, it's not about the people. Who cares how many have died? It was the United States, for christ's sake! Better to have tens of thousands of people die in another country. Nobody fucks with the United States. I don't care at all to which country this has happened (aside from that the fact that this has happened to the US shows how frighteningly strong terrorism is). If it had happened to Austria, I wouldn't feel any better or worse. People died. Those who did this are complete assholes. They killed thousands of people. I hate them for it. What samanthasmom wants to do is to kill tens of thousands of people because some of them have killed thousands of US citizens. That's worse - it's how wars get started.

I don't know if anyone will see this, but I found out about this horror while on my way to the beach for a much anticipated vacation.
When I got to the motel and went into the lobby to check in, I sat down for a few minutes and watched, on the lobby TV, the coverage on the news. Within a minute I had to get up and go back out to my car where I just started sobbing. Later, I realised that my brother's office was very close to the Pentagon. I frantically called him and he was alright, but he saw the fireball from his window.
All day, I've been seeing flags lowered to half-staff, and everytime, I start crying.
I've wanted friends to talk to about what has happened, but I'm far away from home, and I guess this was the only way to get in touch with my friends, and y'all are my friends.
I am determined to have a good time on my vacation, because if I let this ruin my vacation, then these bastards truly have succeeded in devastating everyone's lives in America.

I also want to say that I respect everyone's opinion here concerning what has happened but I do agree with Samantha; We have to use "Unconventional weapons. There are children in these countries, children that will grow up to be terrorist as well. I hope I haven't made any enemies with my feelings.
Actually, I have talked to quite a few people while here at the beach and everyone of them agrees with this. That doesn't neccessarily make us right, though. But we have been too soft on terrorists and they know it. It is time to strike back.
Our country has been changed FOREVER.

Thanks for the affirming message, Jim.As a journalist, it has been weird watching the news unfold. The only time I cried was when the second tower fell. At that moment, I could picture in my head whoever led the attack jumping up and down in joy. The pictures from the Middle East later confirmed my fears. A lot of my friends don't really want to talk. They think people have been talking too much. They think it's time to be silent. Now that the smoke has cleared, it's time to mourn, time to heal, time to LIVE. We need to take care of this country before we can think of any kind of retaliation. And we need to show them that this country (and the countries who mourn our losses with us) will survive.
