I found the film so-so. Nothing that really connected to me personally, but decent entertainment for kids of all ages.

I don't remember a note of the score, though.

Saw the film at the cinema with my beloved (we also have the CD and DVD) - loved the film and music! One of the best in years. A Pixar high (with Cars as a Pixar low).

wow! just a couple of days ago I saw the film. I had the CD since it came out, but never saw the film before. it hit me. really struck a chord, alomst like The Incredibles did. gorgeous animation, with often a live-action feel, but still true to the animationconventions.
the story is very sweet and charming, a tad predictable but I could'nt care less. it really is involving. great storytelling. light, adventurous, humurous, just lovely.

the score is probably my favorite Giacchino score, maybe now even more. it works so well with the film. really brings it to another level. of course, the instrumentation has to have some 'French' sounding instruments, but I couldn't care less about that, too. the mixing of styles is at places very funny, especially since the film is about food and cooking.
the end credits track has a nice touch somewhere, where you can clearly hear the sound of someone mixing in a bowl.
the score is brimming with life, detail and feeling. soaring in places, subdued in others, cartoony sometimes, more often plain fun or highly romantic.

it seems that this score isn't very popular here. that's a pity. it makes me feel great, upbeat, happy... I'd like everybody to feel the same way..!

I agree, this is my favourite Giacchino score.

This was the first time I noticed Giacchino. The score is almost like an accompanying modal clock, taking excrutiating note of every action happening in the film. The level of detail in the score is so high, I thought the composer would need at least a year to recover from the exertion of churning out all those mutually resonating notes. Technically, a seemingly huge feat.
