Hi guys,

I was finally able to track down this game-score CD big grin
Unfortunately there is no track-listing. Does anyone have more infos ??

The arrangements are credited to Gary McKill. Does this mean that the music was not performed by JC at all or just for the CD by someone else ??

Regards

According to the PS1 game booklet the music is simply referred to as
EARTH/AIR
composed by John Carpenter
arranged by Gary McKill

The game score itself is just seven cues.
one 40 second cue for main title
another 40 second cue for the selection menus
The remaining five tracks, that average under five minutes each, are essentially EARTH/AIR 1 through 5.
These act as underscore during gameplay.

Does anyone have anymore info on this John Carpenter score. Was it actually released on CD?
Always been a huge Carpenter fan, so very curious.

What would you compare it to of his other scores? I think I heard about it back in the day but never really sought it out.

I believe John Carpenter composed 2 tracks (?) and McKill composed the rest after the style had been set.

Very eerie melodies. Exciting Metronomes Of Ominousness, if I may be adjective`ish. Some of the best stuff he/they`ve done. Absolutely recommended.

You can only find the tracks on the game disc put out by Psygnosis so long ago.

The game was good too, up to your limit for its style of peculiar puzzle/action challenge (very different).

I would say its more akin to the children's march in Village of the Damned.

Hello,

I recently got hold of two different versions of Sentinel Returns by John Carpenter.

One would be the French CD that came as a gift with a videogame magazine:
https://www.discogs.com/John-Carpenter-Sentinel-Returns/release/3566118

The other is not exactly listed in Discogs but it's pretty much this one:
https://www.discogs.com/John-Carpenter-Sentinel-Returns/release/16807764
Mine it's the French version of the game. To listen to the soundtrack you have to insert the game in a cd player and skip track 1 (I think it's the game or data). There's also a (strange) bonus standard CD with only the main theme (5 min) inside the box.

I want to keep one and maybe sell the other and I wanted to hear which one you think is more valuable. In Discogs there's only stats for the first one.

Thanks very much!

I have no idea but to me the name Gary McKill sounds like a pseudonym, like a stage name or an alias if you will but since I have no knowledge of it I can be wrong. And come to think about it Carpenter have sometimes used fake names when he worked on films.

It sounds so wonderfully “mid-90s game”, I love it.
