Dare I say it. I have complete tapes for both East and Rebel. Rebel even includes an unused title song.
East was missing four short pieces which I recently found.

What are you going to do with them, and are they in stereo? How's the fidelity? What size tape?

Preston, I think we need to petition either Doug or Roger at Intrada for a possible release!

You don't honestly think they're unaware of these scores, do you?

I am sure that both Roger and Doug are aware of the scores however as per my earlier reply I stated that it is quite sad 10 years on from the original post none has released these score. I appreciate that there may be some legal issues which have prevented these releases to date but still 10 years on is a very long time.

Agreed, I would love these. My only point was that Intrada has released several Rosenman scores, none as prominent as these two, so it's safe to say there must be some reason we're not aware of that these haven't shown up (yet).

My only point is that I don't see how nine members of this board petitioning Doug and Roger about these is going to change anything. And it always seems slightly condescending to them, like we have to say "Hey, get off your butts and make these happen, we want them!"

Schiffy M, I have the utmost respect for you and every time you post your view I read it with great interest. I agree with you completely and I guess I was quite wrong to mention Roger and Doug and I am sure that Intrada may have looked at the possibilities of releasing these but have been unable to do so for one reason or another.

However by revisiting this thread we now know that someone does have the complete tapes!

The raising of the subject of possible legal difficulties reminds me wistfully that way back in the 70's, when Tony Thomas was hosting a fantastic series of Filmex Festival events with multiple film composers, among the many heroes I got to meet personally was Mr. Rosenman. When I asked him about my wish to some day hear an album of EAST OF EDEN, he blithely suggested I just call the head of the Warner Brothers music department and ask them to send me a taped copy. "Wistful," I say, because I put it on my back burner, and never did follow through.

Intrada seems to be doing many RCA albums lately - the same territory like Columbia these days. The question is if it is possible (and profitable) to get Sony and Warner's on the table. La La Land's "Giant" seems to perform not as good as expected...

Thanks for the themes, Leo. Happily, I have the Holdridge album. And happily, I have the re-recording double CD of the two Rosenman/Dean scores. I wonder whose arrangement/performance that is on Youtube. You saw, perhaps, the Comment from someone who says this is the only theme that makes him cry...

Preston, that music also has the same effect on me.

Both scores were preserved only in mono. Sound is very good.

The knife fight in Rebel is much longer than the one in the film. implying that the original scene was shot longer.

I have just watched ‘East of Eden’ today and I am still hoping there will be release of this great score together with ‘Rebel without a Cause’ in the near future!
