I think I'm in shock. That music video is extraordinary. Now I'm really annoyed that I can't attend the RAH concert.frown

Five years since the last Barry album has been far too long. I hope he continues recording.

I know 30 second sound clips don't do the music justice, but upon first listen I must express mild disappointment with some of the new arrangements of existing music, particularly the two Bond songs. I will reserve final judgement until I get the CD on Saturday (for once Australia seems to be getting something before the rest of the world roll eyes ).

Ignore my previous post. I got the CD today, and am more than happy with the music. The only track I'm not entirely happy with is You Only Live Twice. I know it is good to have fresh interpretations of original music, but this particular interpretation just doesn't impress me.

On a related note, I was most happy to read a promo card within the CD case stating that the Ten Tenors will be doing a "Here's to the Heroes" tour of Australia in January/February 2007. I suppose there's sweet all chance that John Barry will make an appearance, but I'll take what I can get.

One more thing. The Ten Tenors performed the title track from the album this morning on the 'Sunrise' program (a sort of Australian 'Good Morning America'). During the post-performance interview, special mention was made of John Barry, which I thought was really cool. Another thing that amazed me was that, despite the confines of the studio, the group (which, being ten pieces, takes up a bit of space) sounded absolutely amazing. I definitely am looking forward to their Australian tour next year.

And what are your comments on "We Have All The Time In The World" and the Zimmer thing?

Perhaps this is a good time to the old celtic songs proyect... true?

I remember that there were a celtic songs proyect that finally gave us Eternal Echoes and NO songs...

Id love to get the vocal version of The Beyondness of Things "Give me a Smile"

Barry composed great tunes and I cant understand how labels are losing the chance to get great and famous stars to sing them and get money!!!

I've heard some criticism of the interpretation of WHATTITW, but it's a load of bollocks as far as I'm concerned. The Ten Tenors were never going to be able to compete with Louis Armstrong, and they don't try. They've put their own spin on the song, and I respect that.

As for the Gladiator Suite, it's the type of gloriously over the top arrangement I love. It really ends the album with a bang!

Would love to hear them take on some Goldsmith Themes. Words set to Movie Music is kind of a fun thing.

Seems like Sarah Brightman really got it started and then Groups like Il Divo and Ameci Forvever got on board with Morricone's THE MISSION Theme given the lyric treatment with "La Fantasia"

General Public seems to be eating it up.

Michael,

Could you please give us the names of those who are credited as conductor/arranger etc. on that album? Thanks!
