I really enjoy this soundtrack, it's one of my favorites. I know some don't like the disco elements of the score, but I really enjoy it. It's fun. The more traditional elements of the score are great. It has also got a powerful title song. I was wondering who else likes this soundtrack.

Conti did a great job on this score, I love it and its one of my favorites too, love the gunbarrell and how he works the Bond theme into several of the cues and his jazz tunes are wonderfull.

and of course Sheena.

I'm glad this baby got expanded, but even the basic program is full of gems. The LP was one of my favorites, and the CD still holds up well.

I dare say that the "disco" parts are my favourites. :-o Weren't they reworked for the TV themes to THE MASTER, as well as RUNAWAY WITH THE RICH AND FAMOUS?

I can only join in and also sign up to the Bill Conti Disco Club. I never understood how many on this board would talk down Conti's work for Rocky and Bond just because it is not classical music. Conti has got a great sense for melodies and I wished this wasn't so absent from most of the symphonic scores of now and then (of other composers). To me his Rocky scores were one of the main factors why I ever got into film music (the biggest one being the Bond scores in general).

Awful score, great song

I prefer Moonraker, OHMSS, Yolt, Diamonds, and more... (John Barry)

Excellent score, very good song.

But a fantastic decision to show Sheena during the titles...

FYEO is a great Bond score, serious when it needs to be, exciting when it needs to be, but also extremely tongue in cheek.

A masterpiece compared to the overblown Barry-pastiche Bond scores of today.

I couldn't describe it any better. It has all of those elements for different parts of the film, much like Barry scored, say THUNDERBALL.

Among my favorite moments: "Take Me Home" the flugelhorn solo for the Contessa, and also the music for the scenes at St. Cyril's Monastery.

I'm glad to see you guys enjoy this soundtrack as much as I do. It would be nice to see Conti score another Bond movie. Who else feels this way?

Yes it would. But it's highly unlikely. You might want to check out his score for the Bond spoof "Spy Hard" with Leslie Nielson. Of course that means you have to sit through the movie itself which is a somewhat painful experience, but the music is pretty good :-)

Easily the best non-Barry Bond score of the series - in my opinion.

Yes.

But only if you ignore the stunning music David Arnold and Michael Kamen did for the series.

I prefer LIVE AND LET DIE, personally. And the extra tracks on the reissue are great. By contrast, with the possible exception of the gunbarrel, the bonus tracks on FOR YOUR EYES ONLY (on the Ryko, as opposed to the original LP) don't add anything.

Well... Michael Kamen at any rate!

I agree that LALD is the best non-Barry of the series but I disagree that there's no cool stuff on the expanded FYEO. I'm particularly fond of "Ski...Shoot...Jump" and "Sub Vs. Sub" but, as with most of the Bond re-issues, I wish the bonus tracks weren't arranged into mini-suites. Then again some of the tracks on the original FYEO album were suites, i.e. "Melina's Revenge" and "Gonzales Takes A Dive" (or "Drive" if you believe the re-issue's unique brand of spelling!!)

The expanded CD release is still missing about 12:40 of fantastic score. Hopefully this will be released some day.

Since this score is controlled outright by MGM and readily accessible, is there any way that FSM could licence the rights to it from MGM and release the definitive COMPLETE version of it? Could MGM and FSM work out a deal similar to that which used to exist between MGM and Rykodisc?

Lukas? Anyone?

I was just listening to the Rykodisc (actually, an MD copy) in the car today and I was just wondering about if it was the "complete" score - I suppose the above answers my question - or does the newer, FSM-produced expanded release contain the complete version?

Great Conti score, at any rate - any comments?

I found this score annoying when I was younger, but nowadays I quite enjoy it. I still need to get it (and many other Bond scores) in my collection.

Easily Roger Moore's best Bond outing as well. A very welcome change after MOONRAKER. smile
