Just wanted to recommend this album. Joel Goldsmith is a really good composer and he pretty much has a style of his own. The Stargate Atlantis theme was of course Emmy-nominated as well. You can't go wrong with this CD, it's a pretty rousing, orchestral affair.

Yes, IMHO one of the best score CDs of the past year. It's great that scores like this are still being written for the "small medium" TV. Joel Goldsmiths orchestral score for Moon 44 is also highly recommended.

Yes, I heartly concur!! Buy it! Buy it!

My only gripe as mentioned in a previous thread is that the end title isn't included to "round off" the album!
Also, is it just me, or has the end title music in season 2 of Atlantis been chopped by a bar? It ends more abruptly than previously I think - or am I just having a dose of the head stammers?!!

I miss those End Titles on many albums today, for example on Varese's Taken CD. it can be heard here:

Fantastic score, one of my personal favorites.
I was lucky enough to get a signed copy by Joel for being a fan and part of his website.
Only a few of us got it.
He like his Dad is very personal but does love his fans.
If you haven't already go check out his site..

That's awesome dude. I've always loved Joel's music ever since I heard First Contact and I visited that website recently. Think I should join up for the forums?

Yes only the answering of post is rather slow.
Joel does monitor it from time to time so he is aware of whats said even if he doesn't answer a particular post.
He only answered one of mine way back with my first post about his score for Laserblast.
He said in a nut shell he never liked the score but was glad I liked it.
I go there at least twice a day so I see whats posted.

Yeah I didn't necessarily mean to join up to chat with Joel, just to hang out with other fans of his. And if Joel respons, well that's just a bonus!

The series just recently popped up on Netflix in the Netherlands and I started watching. Great popcorn show -- and it doesn't hold back on the ethical an political science fiction as well.

I've come to like the scores, mostly by Joel Goldsmith. The theme is a bit hard to dig in to, although it fits mirroring the nobility of the Ancients and the wonder of being in a new galaxy. The episode score sound like they're mostly in the James Horner-range of film scoring, but that means the Aliens - Clear and Present Danger-range, so nothing bad there.

Unfortunately the season one soundtrack album is completely AWOL, even from virtual outlets. I hope someday (more of) this music will get a release.

To be honest, I would rather see a 10-cd-box of this than of Lost in Space.

What a coincidence, I just finished the last episode right now (my 2nd run for the show, now in fact for all the 3 Stargate shows, lol)

I don't find the theme "hard to dig in to" at all ... if by that it means it's hard to listen to, or hard to remember, I find it both enjoyable, and easy to remember.

As for the music within the episodes themselves, although I wouldn't mind it all (so I can selected whichever piece I like to listen to myself wink ...), there's mainly one thing I remember, and that's a long/extended(?) version of the main theme, playing in a slow heroic/epic way. That version I'd love to have. (I haven't actually looked into if it's available anywhere, but most likely not). I can't remember which episode exactly it was in, but probably somewhere in the middle. Maybe related to some Replicator episode or something. Or Wraith, lol . Or Both...
