INTRADA Announces:

SILVERADO
Composed and Conducted by BRUCE BROUGHTON

Columbia Pictures' 1985 spirited western SILVERADO stars Kevin Kline,
Scott Glenn, Kevin Costner, and Danny Glover as four unwitting heroes
who cross paths on their journey to the sleepy town of Silverado.
Silverado -- a town run by a corrupt sheriff and murderous posse. A town
that won't remain sleepy for long. Writer/Director Lawrence Kasdan
(Raiders of the Lost Ark, Body Heat) said that he wanted to make a
western for a generation that had never seen a Western, and he threw in
all of the big set pieces you'd expect to see---and hear.

Bruce Broughton's music for SILVERADO broke important ground by defying
the then-customary tradition of scoring westerns with minimalist ideas,
the sound of banjos and guitars, whistles and whip-snaps, popular folk
tunes and other then-trendy western trademarks. Using a full-blooded
symphony orchestra, Broughton literally lifts the larger-than-life story
into epic status. In balance with his robust and now-famous main theme,
Broughton also introduced a ferocity to the action music not previously
known to the horse opera. The two elements combined in such striking
manner that Broughton's work received an Academy Award nomination. For
this release, Intrada has used the original 24-track session masters for
the first time, working with the composer and original studio session
engineers to mix and edit this premiere presentation of the complete
score. This 2-CD set offers over a half hour of previously unreleased
music with state-of-the-art sound. All-new packaging and liner notes
from the composer add a finishing touch.

I'll be there too, because of that much improved sound you say, but...

... why a 2-cd set ? I would much preferred a 79-min disc with the whole score and not this. But, oh well. Now I have to pay 30$ and not 20$.

Oh, and great art by Mr Peak ! (The father. I dont like his son's pics on Varese at all).

if you see the love and workd put into this project, it is worth the money

I think INTRADA had to pay a higher fee to access the SONY tapes, thus we are paying more for this.

It is nice though to have this as a regular release and not a special one limited to 500 copies like YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES which is almost identical in length.

Complain if you MUST,
But I MUST purchase this to further support INTRADAs efforts!

in fact i buy some cds from lables like FSM/Intrada or screenarchives to support them even if it is not a 100% must have title for me

and better a 30 bucks for a cd WITH quality than wasting the money for 2-3 mediocre big lable titels

Re-releases can only be a good thing. You either have it or you don't. It gives all the people a chance to buy stuff that they couldn't get it/missed out in it before. I wish they'd put out John Scott's Lionheart and Craig Safan's Last Starfighter again.

Splendid score.
Excellent movie.
Great artwork.

I'll get one, you bet.
Thanks, Intrada!
Will Tombstone follow soon, or in a couple of months?

(I know, I'll have to draw the V over...)

Tombstone is in the works, but there are a few other projects in the queue before it.

Okay, thanks.since there are already signing requests, could Mr Broughton rather engrave his signature on my CD, please? Brand it, if you will.

That's a little tricky...as they're all shrinkwrapped and we're located about 400 miles away from Bruce.

Never seen the movie. Never heard the score.

At the time I thought of Broughton as a poor man's Williams--still do to as certain degree--but I have come to admire a few of his scores in their own right.

Perhaps Intrada's SILVERADO will be counted among them.

Sounds like someone who hasn't heard much Broughton.

Tut-tut. Mixing past and present tenses. Let me correct that for you:

Sounds like someone who had not heard much Broughton.

Or, if you prefer the use of contractions:

Sounds like someone who hadn't heard much Broughton.

Advice: avoid selective quoting.

Go and listen to Lost in Space and say that again.
