YES!!! AN AFFORDABLE, MORE COMPLETE VERSION OF COOL HAND LUKE!!! http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/biggrin.gif">

Joe is a Happy Camper...

- or rather, he will be, as soon as Lalo's site stops giving him server errors when he tries to order... http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/redface.gif">

Oh, well. I'll get it soon enough. http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/wink.gif">

For me, this will be worth it just to have the complete "Eyewitness News" theme on CD. http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/smile.gif">

Now Chris, why would I check into this thread? http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/wink.gif"> (Cuz I love the movie. Newman with no shirt on...Yeow!) Love this score. I still have the original LP and a cassette.
A CD would be nice. Always liked the light touch of Shifrin's music. Not a big orchestral sound but a wonderful rendering of visuals and music.

I'd comment Chris, but I have to go take a very COLD shower after looking at the picture. Thanks.

Ah, shucks, ManinDonutShop, I’m great at resisting MOST temptations with
the exception of two: chocolate and Paul Newman. http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/biggrin.gif">

(Brad, I didn’t spank you enough as a child!!)

Back to Shifrin’s Cool Hand Luke. I know some of Shifrin’s scores, but not many.
Luke’s score seems more melodic and subdued compared to his other jazzy,
pulsating scores. Anyone know if he’s composed other filmscores similar
to Cool Hand Luke?

(Clearly, I was eventually able to place my order after all, as you may have surmised... http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/smile.gif"> )

What we have here is Lalo's ability to communicate... http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/biggrin.gif">

Blue eyes aside...if the Aleph "Cool Hand Luke" is like the other Aleph releases, it's likely to be a rerecording rather than original tracks. That's not necessarily a knock on it, and certainly the sound will be better than the Japanese CD release (which isn't really bad, a little hissy perhaps). The Mannix CD (earlier Schifrin/Aleph release) is terrific, but a bit embellished (silly me, I was a little disappointed). Does anyone out there actually have the new "Cool Hand Luke" disc? I'd be interested in hearing about it, particularly whether it's an OST or rerecording.

According to the cover art as shown on Schifrin's website, it's the original soundtrack recording.

It indeed says "original soundtrack recording" on the cover, and the liner notes include "All tracks used courtesy of MCA Records" (??? I didn't know MCA held the tracks - and I was under the impression that MCA automatically refused to permit score releases whenever possible? http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/wink.gif"> )

Dana: I'm not sure when this will pop up in stores (perhaps it already has?), but Schifrin's website is already selling it - I received my copy a couple days ago, and have been enjoying it immensely. http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/smile.gif">
