I'm a huge fan of this John Barry score. I am really enjoying the remastered version of the score as well.

I would really like to get the remainder of the score there is some excellent music that was left off originally when it was done.

Namely when Bond is being pursued by Zorin's men on horse.
The fight at Stacy's when there is a hint of the Thunderball score heard in the background. Oh man!!
Lastly, the cue playing while Bond is hanging on the ropes of the blimp, near the end of the film.
Some outstanding material that is being overlooked on cd.

Hopefully now that Sony owns MGM this oversight on all of the Roger Moore Bond scores will be corrected. Golden Gun, Moonraker, Octopussy, & A View To A Kill are outstanding scores and deserve to be expanded.

Agreed.
Also, don't forget the scene where Stacey is snatched up by Zorin's blimp. It's a gorgeous cue.

And that "heroic" statement of the main theme as Bond rescues Stacy from the fire... It had been rerecorded but nothing comes close to the original. Agreed that Moore's Bond scores are in dire need for expanded treatments... I wished they'd been done them before the Connery scores!

I had forgotten about the cue at City Hall. Good call, yet another great one left off of the score.

Actually something that has always bothered me is how they repeat the Duran Duran song at the end of the album. They could've included another track if they had left off the repeat.

When the scores were remastered they were unable to find the tapes to this score? Is this correct?

Hey, this reminds me: Nobody commented on my AVTAK comments in the "Bond Virginity" thread:

AVTAK has always been one my favourite Bond scores; I've always prefrered the later to the early onse (FROM RUSSIA never leaves the shelf).

This was the first Bond movie I ever saw. I was 6 years old and I remember walking past the theatre and seeing that great poster and I just had to see it.

The first Bond film I ever saw in the theatre was "Moonraker" when I was 9. I've been hooked on Bond ever since (not to mention the scores). In fact I'm listening to "Live and Let Die" as I type this.

At any rate, recently BBC America has been showing the old "The Saint" show, and I have no doubt that Roger Moore was much more suited for Simon Templar than he was for James Bond. In fact, his performance is practically identical.

Don't get me wrong, I loved him as Bond...but he was born to play Simon Templar.

I suppose I may have tomatoes thrown at me for resurrecting a post from 2004. But I thought better to do that than create a new one. I have been wondering the past few years why there has never been an expanded release of A View To A Kill. The current score is about 38 minutes of music from a 2 hour, 12 minute film. I know some people do not like this film, but it has always been one of my favorites. Great cast- Roger Moore, Christopher Walken, Tanya Roberts, Grace Jones, Patrick Macnee... I always thought the soundtrack was exciting and I enjoy all the variations on the theme by John Barry. Does anyone have information on if there are any legal issues preventing an expansion or maybe the masters were lost? I just find it strange that The Living Daylights (also a great score) was released three times, I believe and expanded with 9 additional tracks but A View To A Kill is still in it's 1985 form.

Great question!!! From what I can gather based on the recent Moonraker re recording news Eon is unable or unwilling to green light a project to have a View to a kill and the other roger Moore bond soundtracks expanded. It's such a shame.
Hopefully things will change in the future. View, tmwtgg, spy, octopussy and even ltk all deserve to be expanded by a respected soundtrack label like la la land records.

I'm inclined to think anything I possible. I think back to buying Bond scores like Thunderball , On Her Majesty's Secret Service etc with all that incredible unreleased music back in the early mid 70's and the decades of no expanded scores and then being blown away when it was announced by Lukas Kendall on this board back in 2002 that a deal was done and these treasures would finally be released. ( February 2003 if memory serves )

Compared to those pre-internet days where us film score fans had very limited voices and near to no influence at all we really do live in good times.

If eon says yes, anything is possible.
