While browsing an old CD Rom catalogue, I discovered the following track listing for the "Irma La Douce" LP/CD Columbia 450225:
01. Easy Living The Hard Way
02. Our Language Of Love
03. Escape
04. Our Language Of Love
05. Wedding Ring
06. The Return Of Lord
07. In The Tub With Fieldglasses
08. Our Language Of Love
09. Goodbye Lord
10. I'm Sorry Irma
11. Juke Box: Let's Pretend Love
12. Juke Box: Look Again
13. But That's Another Story
14. Dis-Donc, Dis-Donc
15. Meet Irma
16. Irma La Douce
17. This Is The Story
18. Nestor, The Honest Policeman
19. Our Language Of Love
20. Our Language Of Love
21. Don't Take All Night
22. The Market
23. Our Language Of Love
Without any doubt, something went wrong with this track listing. But what's about "Dis-Donc, Dis-Donc"?
Why does it not appear on the Ryko re-issue?
Does anybody own this mysterious pressing from Sony's "Hollywood Collection"?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Shicorp. I enjoy this cd as well and the melodies are hard to get out of your head after a while. But in reference to your question, I can only guess that the Ryko reissue which has only 17 cues, has incorporated the other(s)? Is this a possibility?

Could this be the recording of the Broadway musical?

No it's the movie because in the Broadway musical, Nestor isn't a policeman he's a law student as I recall.

Irma, the soundtrack, was never released on CD prior to the Ryko release (for which I wrote the notes) except as a "double bill" with Tom Jones. That release, on MCA, featured seven tracks.

This would appear to be the LP track listing with side two listed first (1-13). Side one (14-23).

The Ryko reissue features 17 tracks but the music is identical. Several of the cues listed are combined on the original LP but it still has only 17 Tracks. As for Dis-Donc, this is renamed Main Title on the RYKO release

Was the LP and later Ryko CD a re-record or the original tracks? Does anyone know?

Thanks

Joe

All the LPs & CDs contain the original Sound Tracks and are not re-recordings.

Kritzerland no more. Perhaps Quartet.

Kritzerland no more? Fascinating. I think my love for Mr. Previn has been proven time and time again. I also believe a reissue of this title would sell about 100 copies.

I don't doubt your love for Mr. Previn and I remember we also had a discussion about Jack Lemmon's piano album, but I thought Kritzerland is currently not doing MGM albums.

I stopped because I didn't really want to delve into using up and down tracks and that stuff, and we'd pretty much done everything I wanted. But never say never is what I say.

That's so sad.

Nonetheless I hope some label will tackle this one some day...

I think collectors would be happy of a release (or extension) of a rare title even if it included only selections taken from the m&e track. I guess people would double-dip on a release of "Irma", for instance, if it included all the material that's left in the MGM vaults.

I enjoy this score very much – I owned it on LP, I own the CD. But I doubt I would buy it again. Certainly, M&E tracks wouldn't do the trick for me. I don't feel that everything has to be expanded and expanded.

So if a large share of the audience for this album already owns it, I can certainly see why Bruce would be disinclined to revisit it.
